Return to Console Wolfenstein

Return to Castle Wolfenstein Confirmed For Xbox on PlanetXbox has word that Return to Castle Wolfenstein is set to invade both the Xbox and Playstation 2 console systems. The ports are to be done by Raster Productions, with id Software carefully overlooking the process, just as they supervised the creation of the original game by Gray Matter and Nerve. No source is offered for the press release, nor does it list any projected release dates.

mute point = no point, or at least it isnt' heard
moot point = a point that can't be argued (according to the poster)

mute the mute = putting helen keller in a sound-proof box and asking her to do some math

RTCW = can I die some more in the barbed wire?

I found Half-Life to provide a bland experience despite the plot.

Serious Sam does not even play nearly as good as Doom. Sadly, the community revolving around Doom is sadistic.

Ironic that Serious Sam was so seriously (no pun!) praised, but RTCW was leaps and bounds better, yet it was bashed.

Gah, I hate FPSes on consoles. I tried playing Halo the other day, and I had to put the controller down in disgust. Just let me keep my keyboard and mouse!

There has been a big fanatical rush to get plots into FPS games recently. I thought RTCW had a good balance actually. Enough plot and original levels to make it interesting, with a good hefty amount of mindless violence.

I mean, look at Serious Sam... that game is being praised and it's just DooM with better graphics. Same utterly mindless killing. No plot. Great game.

Half Life had plot, which was worked really well into the game. That was good.

Deus Ex is more of a roleplaying thing, but still had the violence we look for in FPS.

The balance can be struck well, but people seem to be looking for the wrong thing in the wrong place if you ask me.

Just my 2c!

And when did it become so damn important for a FPS to really have a story line or any type of depth???

I only hope MOH:AA doesn't have the same fate of graphics first, graphics second

So what will it be? First or Second?

The X-Box certainly needs more arcade-action games with no stories or depth...

RTCW made Tekken look deep! I only hope MOH:AA doesn't have the same fate of graphics first, graphics second.

Considering that X-Box was in development before Gray Matter finished PC Wolfenstein, one has to assume that this is simply a general complaint against Activision.

you know, that's a pretty bold statement, you do have proof to back this all up right?

Right?!

Well, this wasn't much of a surprise.
This was Activision's plan all along. They got Gray Matter to make the game under a contract that was very unfavorable, then when it's finished and Gray Matter has run out of money, they purchase the developer. Now, they have a complete game that they can get another developer to port (which means far lower royalties for that new developer) and they completely cut out the original developer from any royalty payments. Nice job, Asstivision.
