Medal of Honor SP Demo

As you may be aware, the eagerly-anticipated single-player demo of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault surfaced online as a massive 175 MB ZIP download a day or so ago, apparently uploaded from a foreign magazine's cover CD-ROM. While it was originally not intended to be released online so soon, we feel that it has now spread so widely that we can no longer ignore it in the interest of newsworthiness, but keep in mind that publisher Electronic Arts may decide to officially release it as a self-extracting installer as yet, and that you should also be able to obtain it from the February issue of Computer Gaming World shortly if you happen to be bandwidth-impaired. That said, we have a local copy with mirrors of the demo, repackaged to exclude the distribution of DirectX 8 which most gamers will have installed already anyway. The resulting 150.4 MB download allows you to try out the Nebelwerfer Hunt level in 2015's imminent WWII first-person shooter. Update: The demo has been pulled at the request of publisher Electronic Arts. An official demo is expected to be released on January 8. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

What eloquent ripostes adorn this message board, what repartee! It's like reading the minutes of a convention of ADD on speed. How you can reap such pleasure from such an abomination of a game with its silly pop up spawning Nazis, pasty faced character textures, ridiculous bucking and jumping gun recoils and pointless shooting gallery gameplay. And then pretend to be Tom Hanks going through Caen. Wow, what a movie like experience. Except the movie is "Voyage Of The Damned". To the ear mites that post the drivel here, may I suggest that you relax, take a "brown shower" from your boy friend and stick to self pleasuring with a favourite pair of tweezers and a magnifying glass.

I got it from fileplanet the other day. I am very impressed with it and think its well worth the download. Got very confused when I saw all the negative posts here.
I think the SP demo shines.

Nope, I went into god mode to check. Your way wrong.

>I had to laugh when I got to the church with the 3 machine guns in the windows.. one guy would run up to the machine gun, I sniped him, another guy ran up to the machine gun, snipe, again, snipe, etc. Then when you get closer to the church, one officer runs up from the left, two soldiers from the right. Kill them, then lo and behold.. one officer runs up from the left, two soldiers appear from the right of the church. This is repeated about 4 or 5 times. WTF??

Its just germans going for the machinegun. Wouldnt you? Go into godmode and check for yourself.

#215, I have to agree with you. I wouldn't say the game is utter crap, it had some redeeming qualities, but basically the gameplay came down to spawn camping for me. It was painfully obvious that enemies were being repeatedly spawned in almost every combat area you encounter. WTF?? This would be forgiveable if they added some variation, or at least if it was reserved for certain encounters only. All you do to win the demo is advance till you trigger a spawn, then sit tight and wait for them to appear beneath your crosshair. That's pretty poor game design, really.
Still the game did have a nice feel and atmosphere, the sounds were nice and it did have a very gritty ww2 feel.

Look man just because the style of this game isn't to your liking , that doesnt mean that its a bad game. In fact I think when all is said and done this game will have sold more than any of the other games you mentioned that you like. Not to say that one is better than the other. Its just what most people enjoy in a gamestyle. If you like games with a different style than MOH , just go play them and have fun. EA is trying to make money. Not serve a niche market. This style of play will bring more customers to the stores to buy the game. And personally I cant wait for it to come out. I think they have done alot of really cool things here. Its the most "movielike" game I've ever played. And I think its gonna be alot of fun.

I dont know man. sometimes I just like to whack it. Somtimes "real" sex requires to much work...

god damn males are lazy :P~

Ontopic, I have played this demo quite a bit now and while I will aggree I fill alot of scripted triggers and enemy movements. I still enjoy it quite a bit. I about wet myself when I first found the german rocket luanchers. that whole battle was about the coolest thing I've done in a game in a long time. Its hard to compare anything else to hiding behind a small brick wall and hear the explosions on the otherside and seeing the dirt fall all around you. while under heavy machine gun fire from germans in bunkers.

I thought the minefield was nice too. I was actually happy when I started running up the hill and I heard a *click* but it was too late.

i thought to myself. Damn thats fucking awesome!

On the subject of self pleasuring, may I say that MOH is the gaming equivalent of masturbation, and does not compare to the real thing. That, my myopic friend, would be sex. Or, in this analogy, a real PC game.

Lame post #215 - not a single person here cares about what other games you like and or "thought" MOH would compete with. I didnt see any spawning ememies though ill agree that health packs are not my cup of tea.

But since you didnt like the demo - dont buy the retail. But being a baby and going to a forum to "TELL" people you didnt like it acomplishes nothing. Besides, im sure user mods will have everything your looking for 6 months after the games release.

#215 have you actually played the demo ? I mean the MoH demo ? Just thought I'd ask 'cos you seem pretty misinformed,

Monotonous spawing enemies ? Don't remember that part at all... you must be wanking too much and you're ole eyesight is going.

I suggest if you like games like H&D and GR et al stick to playing them. I don't remember *anywhere* that said MoH was going up against that kind of game.

I work in the "industry" on the sales side. We received a big ups box on Thursday from EA with Promo boxes, and 50 copies of the demo on CD. A note was inclosed and said give them out to everyone, esp people who presell the game. Oh well.

I played the demo this weekend and I have to say that this game is a total disappointment, given the high expectations, and basically, totally sucks. It is not fun to play and not a combat tactical game. It's just a mediocre "run and gun" arcade game with very poor character textures and poor gameplay. The tip off is the monotonous spawning enemies. The game is totally linear, tied to scripted scenes and triggers. It must have been designed to appeal to the running full tilt, side strafing, bunny jumping, dancing fragmasters, because that's all it has to offer. I like a game that's non linear, combines tactics and strategy, action and stealth, and squad tactics, like Rainbow 6, Hidden & Dangerous and Ghost Recon. H & D is ten times the game as this, bugs and all. For that matter, even the cheapie title "Normandy", by Valusoft, was better than this piece of crap.
The second world war deserves better than the likes of this or "Deadly Dozen", which definitely lives up to its name. But, at least that was a bargain title. This is the biggest disappointment in gaming for a long time. I will just have to wait for H & D 2. I will also look for SOF2 and the GR mission pack. Think about it? Is this the game you were waiting for? I think not.

I read the article and this got my attention:
"Some gamers took Webmasters to task for offering the file, arguing that posting it before the magazine hit the streets bordered on theft. Others felt the genie was already out of the bottle, making the file fair game."

Is this really unethical? Why?
