Geez, drop in and find a looong thread... a couple of things:
Uhh, Sixxo, not to rain on your parade, but doesn't the following clip you posted from the legal section of the readme text cover distributing copies of the demo?
"THIS FILE AND THE SOFTWARE HEREWITH IS COPYRIGHTED. ALL RIGHTS ARE RESERVED. NO PART OF THIS FILE OR THE SOFTWARE MAY BE COPIED, REPRODUCED, TRANSLATED, OR REDUCED TO ANY ELECTRONIC MEDIUM OR MACHINE-READABLE FORM WITHOUT THE PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT OF ELECTRONIC ARTS, P.O. BOX 9025, REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA 94063-9025, ATTN: CUSTOMER SUPPORT."
I think the "translated, or reduced to electronic medium" bit covers taking the demo from disk to a download on a site.
I agree the leak of the demo is news. I am a bothered by it's being mirrored here though. Personally I have not downloaded it, although I will probably buy the game. There is an excellent chance (well, 100 percent) that I will dl the demo when it is made available by EA. I can wait until then.
The attempts to justify the posting of the demo without EA's or 2015's consent are rather self serving. Why not just admit that A). "I can save money without real legal threat (even if it is illegal)" and/or B). "I have the patience of a gnat and couldn't keep my hands off it if it was coated with contact poison." I've got to admit I'm tempted, but... no. I can wait. The excuse that everyone else is doing it and the knowledge that there is no penalty for my doing it is not enough to overcome my aversion to doing something that smacks strongly of the theft of someone elses intellectual property.
Well, I guess it's time to put on my flame retardent underwear This comment was edited on Jan 1, 23:46.
