CloakNT Movie

The official Chaser site serves up a new CloakNT technology video, demonstrating the engine that powers this sci-fi first-person shooter under construction at Cauldron. The 30.4 MB download offers over four minutes of high-resolution Windows Media Player footage that shows off the various features and effects that the engine supports and which you'll likely find to be employed in the game. Update: As the official site has slowed down noticably, we now have a local copy with mirrors online.

"Doesn't seem like it can do outdoor levels all that well (low visibility with snow-covered ground in the movie)"

Yeah, at the moment it isn't that great for big outdoor areas, but Cauldron are planning to merge CloakNT with their other engine (forget what it's called), that does bigass open areas, although that won't be seen until after Chaser. Still, definitely a graphics engine to be reckoned with.

This engine looks great. Doesn't seem like it can do outdoor levels all that well (low visibility with snow-covered ground in the movie), but I'm totally loving the indoor footage.

Yes. Very amazing looking footage...
I'd have to say it's a better looking tech-demo than the Doom3 one Carmack showed at the apple expo. However, the Doom3 demo was a lot darker and harder to see the actual effects being demonstrated... I know who i've got my money on for the final product tho (go John boy, go John) but an excellent looking engine non-the-less. I like the dynamic light demo with the little particles jumping down the steps

Two words: Holy Shit.

Reminds me of when I first saw Prey in action to the effect of how amazing the engine is.
