Children children please - I think that some of us are getting a bit too livid a bit too quickly. Yes, there are some elements of the demo that are rather weak and yes, there are some elements of the demo that could use a significant amount of work. For all these reasons though, we should be glad that it is simply a demo. Much like the first RTCW demo, which was a god-awful piece of lagtastic crap, this demo gives the developers a chance to gague our feedback and make improvements and adjustments where necessary.
Another important fact to note is this - a demo this small contains almost none of the gameplay that this game is selling itself on, i.e. - teamplay, sharp A.I., objective orientated gamplay, etc etc etc. Perhaps it was poor judgement to release a DM only demo for a game that, at best, includes a DM mode as an afterthought, but that is beside the point. We need to relax a bit and enjoy the demo for what it is...critique it effectivly for what it is not, and then further enjoy the game when it does come out.
For the record, I think the demo is decent in some respects...sound effects are good, character models are good, graphics are fairly sharp, model movement looks fair, weapons seem well done. In other respects though, I think the demo needs significant work - the netcode is very laggy, it seems overly difficult to aim and hit a target, weapon switching is slow and ponderous, and the walk and run speeds are extreamly slow for DM gameplay. These are all minor points though, and all things that a few more weeks of development or a minor patch will be able to address.
Relax everyone...it's just a game.
