EverQuest: Shadows of Luclin Preview

CG Online's EverQuest Shadows of Luclin Preview (thanks KillJoys) is all equestrian-happy, as even though it acknowledges that "Shadows of Luclin includes a lot of new content, from the cat-like Kerran race to several dozen new zones and many new monsters for characters of all levels to fight, it's the horses that are the most captivating addition." The article therefore focuses a majority of its attention on the upcoming EverQuest update to the inclusion of horsies, to a degree you might think the add-on is titled horses of Luclin, discussing what your four-legged friends will and will not be capable of in the game. Included are ten new screenshots.

Because I used to play Everqueer... All I saw was salad-tossers and people from Montana.

Besides bad players, we had miscellaneous glitches in EQ, which deterred my experience from becoming mildly appeasing. I find not only bad players, but also ones whom are used to using ten acronyms in a sentence. However, it was quite the excitement to ruin their experience when I found the suckers.

I am not calling EQ players a geek, but the general populace was overrun with them. And I'm sure, at some point, the designers had though of them
and designed the game with them in mind.

What's so bad about EverQuest? Honestly, I've seen 3 times the articles about Dark Age of Camelot on this site than I have about EQ, and about 4 times the articles on Anarcrap Online. to be honest, I'd rather see a few more articles on EQ, simply because I know I'm not the only person playing that uses this site to get the dirt on it.

You can play EQ with a modem ez. I used to share a 28.8 connection with two machines playing EQ no problem.

I have a similar policy; I've just been avoiding them because of how much time I know that they will suck from my soul. It's not like I don't already spend an obscene amount of money and time on gaming.

I don't know how...I KNOW that I can't avoid Star Wars, though. I may be condemning my soul, but what a fun way to do so. ^_^

If you did manage to resist the urge to install Evercrack, what was the secret?

Pure and simply will-power... we realized a looong time ago that the addictive nature of MMORPGs is completely counter-productive to trying to stay on top of gaming news. loony and I used to joke that Blue's News has a strict "no orc" policy, meaning you aren't allowed to play any games with orcs in them, for fear of the EverCrack syndrome.

Here's my secret: stick with a 56k connection. Basically the only thing that's playable is Diablo II.

Did you ever play Everquest? You definitely report news about it a lot, but I don't ever remember seeing a post in OotB talking about your exploits.

If you did manage to resist the urge to install Evercrack, what was the secret? I could use some tips to shore up my willpower against Dark Age of Camelot.
