No One Lives Forever GotY Patch

NOLF News has posted a new patch for No One Lives Forever which takes copies of Monolith's swinging sixties shooter to the version 1.004v used in the recently released Game of the Year edition (thanks Shacknews). You need to have version 1.003 installed first, and the 1.7 MB patch "allows NOLF users to play/join and create v1.004 (GOTY) servers and games" but does not contain the new GotY maps.

I would like to point out to Fox Interactive that (like blue's hole) game companies are digital. You either are one or your aren't. But at somepoint it only takes one more shovel full. There is a reason people buy half-life. You get CS, TFC, DMC... that are playable with it. Expansion packs are not necessary, but are often worth the expense.

Just think people who loved the game enough (probably to tell friends) are just the people who would bother downloading something like this... DUMB!!!

well you know the goty file is over 160 megs long.

It's going to be a sizeable download if they choose to release it.
Then again ~200mb downloads aren't all that unusual nowadays.

the biggest crap I have heard lately. First the promise and then - without excuse - they backout! Give people who supported the game from Day One the credit they deserve! Put the maps in the patch or make them available for download otherwise soon! (hey....who am I talkin' to here, you probably all agree...) Let's go bother NOLF News!

Here, let me give you a little quote "Only players that own GOTY will have access to the exclusive content (maps)." Right off the webpage. Fuck you monolith.

I don't think it is unreasonable to let them explain themselves. On the other hand, if they don't quickly rectify this difference between expectations and reality there will be a serious lack of interest in Fox Interactive Titles (can you say AVP II)!

...the demo really turned me off because of the mouse input problems that I was having.

In all honesty, I was also being an ass because it used the 'Lith engnie.

Now, after having beat the game, I consider it one of the best FPS games that I have ever played. It looked nice, was very unique, was more than mindless shooting, had secrets/optional routes, lasted more than a few hours, was full of colorful characters, and the gameplay varied from level to level.

The mouse input is still an issue for me (I experience it to some level with all 'lith games, must be something with how they set it up), but I recommend it to all fans of the genre. I easily hold it up there with Half-Life, Deus Ex, Thief, and System Shock.

NOLF really shows that the 'Lith engine can be used for a great many things, not to mention how much they have improved the engine since then...

Going to be pre-ordering my Gamecube on Monday :),

uhm, did you consider the possibility they're rolling this stuff out one thing at a time? the new content may still be coming, so take a chill pill and don't jump to conclusions

The pricks went back on their word. I've been dying to play the new mission and now they want me to buy the GOTY edition after they told us that those levels would be made available for download for people who already own the game. Fuck that. I hope they all get herpes.

They did say that they were going to release the content for those of us that purchased the game way back when, and they should do so. Someone ought to start a petition or something.

Where's the retail patch that gives you all the content that the GOTY edition has?
