As is evidenced by the interview w/ the development team today, this game is almost COMPLETED....and is selling for $19.99.
The screenshots show a shoddy mockup of a game that took only since JUNE to create....yeah, JUNE. Do the math...what can you create between June and October? June and Christmas? Not much.

Sniper looks to be a pathetic attempt at a game that could have been great. This game doesn't DESERVE the title Sniper. The game that deserves the title Sniper will have realistic venues, realistic weaponry modeled. It will have wind factored, the drop of a bullet over range calculated, rebounds of rounds, EXTREMELY detailed locational damage... a scope that will need to be adjusted (and as a result has a good interface for doing so..) Sniper will have AI that reacts to being shot in the hand. Sniper will have AI that reacts to the fellow behind him falling over dead...Sniper will have AI that considers the relationships between each individual and reacts accordingly. Did you just shoot a woman on a crowded street? A child? Did you just shoot one of the other AI's brother? All different reactions. Did you shoot him in the leg? He's bleeding, on the sidewalk...who will come help him?
The real sniper will be a simulation.

This is not Sniper. Sniper is yet to come. I will pay for a REAL sniping simulation. This is a mob war. Big deal. Have fun.

Well. These are early screenshots, so the following opinion should be not be taken too heavily. I can't say a thing about the game play at this time since there's not much to go by. Judging by what I can see of the user interface, it appears to lack much in depth. In regards to art direction.... It may be the screen capture's fault but the color needs more contrast. The texturing appears to be place hold for the most part -I certainly hope it is: they lack a certain depth and some of the textures show artifacting. The model of the rifle isn't all that spectacular so far and granted it has a very simple texture map right now. Based on the screenshots available, there's nothing really new going on. IncaGold hasn't really scratched the abilities of the Lithtech engine in terms of what they're showing in the screenshots...
This may not have been the proper time to have released screenshots.

No-one can say dude in the UK without being laughed at. At
least not in any part of society worth inhabiting

Ha!

I posted it from New Zealand so you are correct about the "society worth inhabiting" bit. But then I've just come back from the UK so probably picked up the "dude" thing from there.

Guys, this HAS to be a joke. Look at Xicat's website

Well, no mention of Sniper on Xicat's page but incagold's has the news from yesterday.

So if this isn't a joke (which I really doubt), then they should delay the game a year or so and put in outdoor levels

But that's all it really means in "English idiom". Which is why we use it to refer to fuckheads.

grom, why are you assuming the poster was american? in my experience, it's brits who use the term 'twat' to refer to people. in american idiom it refers usually only to the female genitalia.

Guys, give this game a break. If you are unaware, most games look like crap when they are very early. Remember Max Payne? The first screenshots looked bad. Blocky gangstas in purple shirts, blurry textures, etc. Now look at the game after mucho delays. I'm hoping Sniper gets delayed a bit. Going for a 2001 release at this point seems a bit too hasty.

I think I'm just going to go start my own SNIPER fansite so I can be the first to say: I told you so! when this awesome game rocks the house!

That's a GREAT idea! You and the other 5 fans of this AWESOME game will have a good time with it i'm sure. Can you please make sure that you also carry the warez version of this masterpiece on your site too so I can play it? Because there is NO WAY IN HELL I would pay 5 dollars for this P.O.S. in the BARGAIN BIN, but I might spare the bandwidth and downoload time IF this r[dung heap]r was free....maybe.

They would be crushed to read these comments - hurting peoples feelings ain't cool, but I must admit I haven't seen worse screenshots in a long long time.

Guys, this HAS to be a joke. Look at Xicat's website, and although most of their games are not bleeding edge, none are even close to this. This is a false rumor posted to make them look bad.

it has to be.

Yeah, but you need to remember that when it came to graphics, at least pong and space invaders were cutting edge at the time... This piece of trash game is more like if someone made the pong paddles 3d, and released it for the PS2... It wouldn't sell shit, and this will not either

You're a twat dude. This game looks like it's using Doom textures and the red brick walls are from the Windows 3.11 screen saver.
