Motor City Online Beta Downloads
 [Sep 22, 2001, 10:24 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments

The Motor City Online Home has word that you can get now participate in the open beta of their racing game by downloading the beta from FilePlanet without having to pay the shipping and handling charges, though you will have to register for a "GameSpy ID" and suffer through a 428.2 MB download. Thanks Dr. Del. Update: The file is also available from the EA.com ftp server (thanks Stomped), BonusWeb, and Tiscali Games.

How about checking out the website to see when the servers will be up? This is a BETA, you know. I have had zero problems with it when the servers are up and running.

Well... I download the 428 MEGABYTE DEMO??????

Didnt take too long on ADSL...

Only 2 days to sort out registration...gee thanks.. 2 days??

Then it downloads a patch???...man o man..

Then it runs... ( wow a running 428 meg demo..!!)

Then it says " Servers closed to the public..??) wtf??

Gee EA keep up the good work... welcome to last place you idiots..

Same here. I downloaded. FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS and got everything set up, logged in, and started playing with no problems. Game runs good and looks good. They tried to load up the server the other night and it good and choked but that's what the whole beta thing is for. IT's a hella lot of fun.

Im starting to wonder if all you guys bithicn' about billing just screwed up along the way. 'Cause I downloaded, registerd, login and played without any problems. And they never asked me for any credit card, and nothing about billing EVER came up.
Same here. If one read the file appropriately called "Installation Instructions.txt" which is in the zip, you'd know what to do. I guess it's just another case of people who just fail to RTFM. That .txt is absolutely fool-proof.

For a beta, MCO has all the right underpinnings! It's already in better condition than many other games out there. How many patches has HL and CS needed now? jeez. MCO's got all the goods!

Man those servers are unstable.. half the time it takes forever to connect.. and when you finally get into the main area, if you dont get into one of the races it puts you all the way back to the main menu
