My movie adventures with my buddy Devicer hit our first dud last week, as we
got out to see Jurassic Park Rebirth. We weren't expecting Citizen
Kane, just a fun dinosaur action movie to accompany our popcorn. But it
really kind of stank. The dumb parts were too dumb, the stakes felt nonexistent,
and the callbacks to the original movie didn't land. Worse still, the digital
compositing seemed terrible at times, leading to half-baked special effects that
didn't present the visual splendor that could have been a saving grace. On the
bright side, the last film we saw before that was F1: The Movie, and that was
pretty fantastic. Definitely the fun summer blockbuster we were hoping for. So,
you win some and you lose some.
