Anthem Signs Off in January [Jul 03, 2025, 8:10 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
An Anthem Game Update from Electronic Arts has word that the other shoe will drop on Anthem on January 12, 2026, putting an end to this live service shooter from BioWare that failed to live up to expectations. There's a FAQ with full details, with the overview explaining what the die-hards still playing can expect:
We have an important update to share regarding Anthem. After careful consideration, we will be sunsetting Anthem on January 12, 2026. This means that the game will still be playable online for the next 180+ days. As of today, you can no longer purchase in-game premium currency, but you can still use your remaining balance until the servers go offline.
We deeply appreciate your dedication, passion and support over the years and we’d like to thank you for that.

I have a small hope in Stop Killing Games that this will not be as prevalent in the future, should the EU create a law for game preservation. There is a huge chance it won't, but there is also a non-zero chance that the petition will result in something positive for live service type of games.

Aw, crap. I picked this up on sale on Origin (R.I.P) EA App ages ago but then kept waiting all these years if they would maybe even bring it to Steam. Since that ain't happening anymore, I'm going to have to finally play this in the relatively near future before they shut the fucker down.
I've only played the free trial or beta (or whatever it was) back in the day and the jetpack flying experience wasn't even half unfun. It was only everything else that was kinda garbage.
Not expecting much but I've always wanted to at least finish the "story" so will dive in next month or so...

Anthem was a failure from the beginning. Even the developers didn't know what they were making until they saw the E3 Anthem gameplay trailer.
The most exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions.
I tought they killed it off years ago, could have kept playing if I knew at least finish the campaign.
Too bad... you know what would be awesome, if they released the assets, and server software so we could mod this shit and run our own server. I said it before, and I'll say it again, Anthem was not a bad game at all. It's still on EA, you should check it out...
