I hope that you let us know when you go off grid so we don't worry about you. I enjoy your posts and will be sad when you're gone, regardless of reason.

Of course I will. That would only be polite. Thank you very much! I have enjoyed my two+ decades here at BN.
Losing regulars here breaks my heart, and you are so core to the vibe here. But going out on your own terms and keeping us updated on your plans is definitely appreciated. Just not as much as keeping some sort of burner phone to stay in touch. Just sayin'...

Boxing always felt like a legitimate sport and professional WWE had a baby. But as a sport, I loved it.
An interesting analogy given boxing was around long before WWE. Boxing was a pretty good sport before late stage capitalism got ahold of it. These days the only kind I will watch is Olympic boxing. Mike Tyson was a terror. But I was watching live when he lost to Buster Douglas. Always wondered how many people won big on that, it couldn't have been many.

Against Tyson in his prime Douglas would have been annihilated with one uppercut. I was watching live too. I felt like that was the day professional boxing died. Could you imagine a Marvin Hagler vs Mike Tyson bout when Cus Damato was still alive? No ear chomping lunacy; just a match between 2 titans?? That would have been epic.

Hope you can share some pics when finished!

I won't for security reasons. I know I can scrub the exif data but when this is done, this is solely for me to disappear completely onto. No online pictures is just one step in keeping a match from being made with something like, say, Google Maps' satellite view. I want to check out and never be found again. I am done with the US, done with its society, and done with the human race with a few exceptions. I mean no personal offense by that last part, there are some mighty good folks here on BN. I'd just rather keep to myself for the remainder of my life.

The Sugar Ray Leonard/Tommy Hearns fight was one of the most exciting sporting events I have ever seen. And before Don King and company messed up Mike Tyson's already fragile brain, he was the most impressive athlete I had ever seen. I stopped watching after Tyson lost to a complete nobody.

@BoP, maybe this 12 hour video can make for good background while you work.

Laugh2

It needs better audio, as you mentioned. I need the subwoofer under my desk to rattle the windows in their casements to go with that kind of elemental fury.

But that will have to wait for a few weeks. I'm out on my homestead building my cabin. I am hoping to get the shell done and sealed before I have to return.

At about the 10:30 mark give or take there is a fair amount of the height of the eruption changing significantly over and over. I wonder what was going on to cause that.

Eruption is live.
Damn! How far is that from you?
25 miles, or 45 minutes by car. This was probably the most powerful one I've been to. I could actually feel the heat from the eruption from a couple miles away which hadn't happened the previous times i visited.

Here's a video of the full eruption. It's 12 hours long, so jumping somewhere in the middle can give you an idea of what it was like. The video doesn't capture the sound well, which is like a jet engine. In the end it stopped suddenly, from spurting 100s of feet in the air to zero in about 10 seconds, like shutting off a faucet.

@BoP, maybe this 12 hour video can make for good background while you work.

Whenever I hear the phrase "think outside the box" I am reminded of I think a 60 Minutes segment on Southwest Airlines (this was many years ago). And they had on one of the C-level execs of the company talking about the CEO and founder. Saying he used to tell the CEO (paraphrased): "It is okay to think outside the box. But we need to be able to see the box."

I just ignore these attention seeking fights vs. (semi-)retired boxers by this YouTube guy. It's not boxing, it's a carnival attraction.
