Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Announced

Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio announce Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a prequel installment in the Plague Tale series coming to Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026. This is unveiled in a surprisingly rat-free Reveal Trailer showing a setting 15 years before the events in A Plague Tale: Requiem. Here's the blurb from the game's new Steam Listing:

Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia, a fierce young plunderer, on the run but determined to uncover the secrets of her past. Dive into an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand new take in the universe of A Plague Tale.

Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur' Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her…

I rarely replay games but Plague Tale Innocence was da shiznit. Easily among my top 3 games of all time because of the story, the atmosphere, the characters and the unique gameplay. What a ride. Not spoiling anything but the end boss fight is also E.P.I.C.

I have yet to fully play Requiem. I started it but was slightly disappointed due to various factors. Not sure why they felt it was a good idea to get rid of the French accents for Amicia and 'ugo. Amicia had so many cute sounding lines in the original game when she tried to school 'ugo. That charm was totally gone in part two.

Requiem also has a very weird beginning. I liked how Innocence was more grounded at first and how the whole supernatural stuff evolved later on in the game. Requiem starts with some seriously weird shit that is executed pretty well but it did not grab me like the virtual page turner that was Innocence with Amicia and 'ugo on the run from the bad guys.

I plan on returning to Requiem this fall though. The Plague Tales are the perfect games for the dark season.

I still need to finish Requiem. I don't know what it is with these games, it takes me forever to get through them. Visuals aside, they haven't been catchy enough for me to make great strides to get through them. I also find the stealth elements a bit clunky and it drives me nuts. The best part so far was the original towards the end when you acquire a power with the boy. I won't say much else if someone hasn't gotten to it, but that was probably the best part of the two games so far. I imagine there might be some better moments to come in the sequel, but I'm still waiting for it.
The ending is to die for! While I also thought that the gameplay isn't all that great the graphics are and the story kept me going despite the gameplay.

the series has been really solid so far. I guess they are moving away from playing a guardian role and more towards a traditional RPG

Finally the first and only (potential) non-turd from SGF 2025. Will keep an eye on this one for sure and hope it is not a case of franchise recognition milking.
