"An occurrence causing widespread destruction and distress..."
I think this is a pretty accurate description of what happened. It is also, of course, murder. But that goes without saying. Let's not get tied up in the grey matter of the English language. I think we all agree that this is nothing less than murder, and an occurrence that causes wide spread desruction and distress. Use your anger for good and make sure it is directed at those responsible, not innocent reporters that use a word that they prefer to describe something that NO word can describe.
