Cloud Imperium Games announces the Invictus Launch Week 2955 is underway, celebrating Star Citizen and Squadron 42, and highlighting the possibility one or both of the crowdfunded space games might launch before 3000 A.D. In the meantime this includes another Free Fly period, allowing the chance to play Star Citizen for free and see how the alpha is shaping up after 13 years of development. On that topic, a Flight Blade Feedback Update has word from CIG it is changing how it is rolling out a "Flight Blade" feature that sells enhancements for all the spaceships sold during the game's protracted (if not permanent) development cycle (thanks Reddit). This is a response to backlash from a customer base that's not big on backlash, so you know it was serious. Back to the topic at hand, here's more on the free fly schedule:
Welcome to Star Citizen! From May 15 (16:00 UTC) until May 27 (20:00 UTC), we're celebrating our annual Invictus Launch Week 2955 and you (yes, you!) can play for free. For the duration of the event, all players will receive an Aegis Avenger Titan - an iconic fighter that’s perfect for exploring the system.

You do? I didn't know they released the game, up to now I only knew about an eternal alpha test going on. Why is it not all over the news that CIG have finally released the game?

PC Gamer also wrote about flight blades and the community uproar.
"We're pushing 11 patches this year instead of 4. We’re crushing more bugs than ever, building more exciting content, moving faster than ever to make the Persistent Universe a better experience for everyone, and in moving that fast, we missed a step."

I assume 2955 is in reference to the year of the scheduled release date?
