EVERSPACE 2 - Wrath of the Ancients Released [May 12, 2025, 6:47 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
The Wrath of the Ancients expansion is now available for PC and consoles, bringing new content to EVERSPACE 2, the sci-fi RPG/shooter sequel. The Windows and macOS edition is on GOG.com* and Steam, and while it doesn't carry a launch discount, the base game is currently 70% off on Steam. Speaking of the base game, it is now updated to version 1.4.47918, and this post on Steam has details on the patch and the add-on. The Launch Trailer takes a look, and here are more details:
EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients is now live on PC and consoles! It’s time to take flight through an all-new adventure set after the events of EVERSPACE 2, that leads pilots deep into star systems controlled by the Okkar. As Adam and his band of misfits seek the origins of mysterious Ancient ships attacking Human colonies, truths of the Okkar race come to light. Apart from that, you may also reunite with an old friend, leading into the Aethon System.
As part of the new storyline, players adventure through four new explorable star systems, each packed with multiple locations filled with new enemies, secrets, and new types of puzzles. New side quests expand on characters and stories introduced in EVERSPACE 2, adding greater depth to the universe. All-in-all, this new expansion adds more than ten hours of new post-game and side quest storylines to the base game.

Steam Deck performance is much improved! I thought that it looked good too.

Thanks for the sources. I knew that ROCKFISH Games have described it as a looter shooter.
I was aiming my comment for the Blue's News crew, and not at large. I never felt that the point of the game was to grind for loot.
There's a demo, so it is definitely worth checking out, for anyone on the fence. I need to try it again to see if performance on the Steam Deck is improved.

Exemplary exhibit is this interview with Rockfish's CEO Michael Schade on GameRant.
In an interview with Game Rant, Rockfish Games CEO and co-founder Michael Schade spoke about the series' switch from roguelike to looter shooter and the various games that inspired the team's approach to this switchup.
Their former community guy Eric has also always referred to it as a looter shooter when streaming the game (almost) every Friday before the game was released to make sure that people don't expect a space sim or a Freelancer-like experience.
All of the old streams can still be found on Rockfish's YouTube channel here. Their community work has been absolutely outstanding. A dev representative playing their own game weekly and answering questions, explaining systems etc. ... it doesn't get better than that.
And the streams are still going. With a new guy now (Garry) but it is still the same concept. No marketing bullshit but he is playing the actual game while talking to people and 'splainin shit. No need for YouTube clowns when you can get much better in-depth info straight from the devs themselves. ROCKFISH ummm... rock.

Really looking forward to this! This was my game of the year when it came out (for games I played that year).
I played through the base game on GamePass on my Xbox (about 70-hours). I am thinking of getting the complete edition on Steam, although SteamDeck performance was not great for the demo the last time I tried.
I think describing this as a looter shooter does it a disservice. There was a fair amount of loot and it felt nowhere near as looty as Borderlands or Diablow.

Really good game, I think I have about 60-70 hours in my one character. It's a little too easy to get lost in the weeds in that game, that's probably my only complaint... I have done hundreds of side missions, kinda forgotten about the main storyline, Skyrim style. 
I will get this expansion on gog to support the game and studio, but I haven't played the game much in a few months

Wrath of the Ancients is the last piece of gameplay DLC coming to EVERSPACE 2. The team has been working on this project for nearly eight years now and we’re excited to get a start on our next adventure. You all will likely see another update or two with bug fixes, tweaks, and minor quality-of-life features—please keep reporting bugs in our Discord and the EVERSPACE 2 Steam community hub! We can’t say anything about what we’re dreaming up right now, but there are cool things coming on the distant horizon. Stay tuned!

Well, it's a space game but far from a sim. The devs have always rightfully referred to it as a looter shooter and that might not be everyone's cup of tea.
Personally, I have played some of it not a long time after it came out and then lost interest rather quickly when I hit a difficulty spike and could not make it past a certain encounter. I will definitely revisit it one day and buy both expansions (the first one is supposed to be rather sucky) but that is a mid/long term project for whenever the expansion bundle is on sale. Currently the exp bundle is still €30.58 and I have, like, a dozen unfinished games installed on my SSD already (and a backlog of hundreds more not installed
) so really no need to add more right now... one day tho...

I picked up the base game and look forward to giving it a spin.
A very well-made game! So far the reviews/scores look great for this DLC! 👍
The most exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions.
