Out of the Blue

I'm sending my best wishes northward towards WalterEgo, as today is my little brother's birthday. I'm three-plus years older than him, so I guess that makes him 25 today? It's also VE Day, commemorating the end of World War II in Europe 80 years ago today. There's news that this is now a national holiday, but that apparently has nothing to do with an actual federal holiday. The end of the war was a long time ago, so it doesn't seem likely to become one.

Victorious Round-up
Thanks Ant, Neutronbeam, and Max.

Hey Blue,

any reason why there isn't a community discord for bluesnews?
Primarily it's a feeling that real-time chat would cannibalize the discussion forums here. And while there are infinite Discord channels, community forums like this one are becoming more and more rare.

Ayayayay, that's costly, sad to read that Mr. Tact.

Here you pay nothing for visits to Doctors, practices or studies, no caps, no copays.
But pay 30% of the medicaments you buy in pharmacies, pay full value for dental prosthesis and nothing for 2 pairs of eye glasses per year, and nothing for visits to dentists or ophthalmologists, nor mouth RXs, etc.

Last november, when I went to the E.R. for my surprise thrombosis, a Dr. looked me up, sent me to have and echo doppler, did it then they had me in observation, took my blood, came back with the result 2 hours later, and then sent me home, giving me 3 boxes of very costly Eliquis (Apixaban) free !.

All in just 5 hours, and they billed me: not one cent, just walked out that blessed door.

I have 2 "obras sociales", a low cost mandatory one as a pensioner -3% of your pension-, and as a free choice everybody has, I also pay one of the best in the country:

Earlier today paid the monthly amount for me and my 37 years old daughter that I added as an extra: USD 387,66 in total.
Curiously, the dollar valor has been steadily falling lately.

Oops, just saw this.
(Just back from my antiflu plus Moderna vaccine fest, totally free as usual, let's go Argentina !).
*ugh* Medical costs. Two years ago I had my first echocardiogram and it cost me nothing worth mentioning (outside my insurance premiums). This April I had my second, this time it is costing me over $1,600. It wasn't a deductible issue, my deductible tends to be between 3-5k each year. Which might seem high, but the frequency with which I get charged anything over a couple of hundred dollars is very low. But since I am getting a "new" plan each year, things change. And apparently this year THAT changed. Another example of change, both two years ago and in April I did a 48 hour heart monitor. Two years ago I got billed by a third party for the data processing of the monitor, $300. This year, the insurance covered $260 of that same $300 charge. That was not a good trade.

The Eternaut: oh, loved it, and I like Darin (The secret in their eyes -not the USA version-), plus all actors are very good at it.
The best is yet to come in season 2.

Binge watched the very good "The Eternaut" Season 1 (Season 2 confirmed by Netflix), miniseries based on one of the best comics ever made (1957-1959).
And what did you think of it?

Alien invasion, with ideas decades in advance and effective to this day.

Also, very late to the party, binged and enjoyed very much The last of Us miniseries.
Didn't like Ramsey that much, she did well her part but a little too obnoxious, though it could well have been the directors/writers' choice.
