A report on MTN describes a deal between Blizzard and Nexon involving a new StarCraft game and Overwatch mobile, according to a translation of the Korean text on VGC. Rumors of a new StarCraft game include the possibility of another attempt at a shooter and word of a recent bidding war over the rights. Now comes the suggestion that Nexon won that war, which seems a natural considering the franchise's enduring popularity in South Korea. Here's word:
According to MTN, Nexon has been chosen by Blizzard to publish the mobile adaptation of its popular hero shooter, and as part of the negotiation process, will also work with Blizzard on a new StarCraft game.
“Blizzard has been bidding since the fourth quarter of the last year for major Korean game companies, offering content development rights using the ‘Starcraft’ IP and the Korean and Japanese service rights for ‘Overwatch Mobile‘ as a package deal,” the report claims.

Since everyone and their grandmother seems to be publishing these.....Starcraft remastered?![]()
Well, somehow I missed that. Took a look, and it's......rather horrible, Somehow the high-fidelity 2d graphics and textures make it look.....plastic & cheap.

people still play Starcraft 2, tho. why bother making a new game? in fact this year Starcraft had a MONUMENTAL, news-breaking revolution: it was released on GamePass.
so following that earth-shaker of a public announcement I'm pretty sure the Starcraft brand is rock-solid in consumer minds for the next ten years or so. let's see in a decade if there's any reason at all for Blizztivision to make a new Starcraft game. or any new game, for that matter.
I feel this way with Diablo though. I was pretty sure Diablo 3 was still solid and in my mind, it felt like it had just came out not too long ago. Then all a sudden there was a D4 announcement and I was like, whaatt? Already?? Then I looked at the release date of D3 and it was 2012... I swear it had just felt that it came out, but then again, this seems to be the norm for Blizzard releases. They don't drop often but when you got one of their IPs dropping a 4th when one of their IP only had a sequel, it makes you think, why not get SC caught up? Warcraft was up to 3 and then obviously branched into the wildly successful WoW. Will we see a D5 before a Warcraft 4 before a Starcraft 3?

The old one is a phantom thread, now!
