First of all, anybody could be labeled "an alleged rapist". Famous people are especially vulnerable to public accusations, especially in today's witch hunt climate.
Second, they are not promoting the composer in any personal capacity, but using his work. An artist's work has value even when he's an asshole, the things aren't even connected in most cases. This is hollow virtue signaling, plain and simple. Half of human culture would be erased if we let moral hysterics and self righteous judges of humanity decide what artists pass their decency test.

Because none of it is Bethesda's problem. They didn't know the guy was a creep when they had him do the soundtrack. The allegations weren't even made until 15 years later. I don't support punishing the developers of the Remaster by asking them to replace the soundtrack with the predictable outcome of being absolutely dragged for tossing out the memorable soundtrack and "ruining" the Remaster, all to essentially spite a guy who no longer has a career anyway.

I think it should be a personal choice whether someone wants to factor in the accusations against this guy into their purchasing decision.

To be clear I would not be cool with Bethesda hiring this guy to do new work, but I see retroactively erasing someones work, at the cost of people who had nothing to do with their actions, as a bridge too far.
