I caved and bought it.....I did get it for 45 dollars of a legit seller, which is pretty cool. In my region it's 55 Euros, so I saved 15 Euros. Downloading now....

I don’t usually care about mods on an initial playthrough but thinking about running this reshade mod. It’s the only “miss” imo is them making the color grading look like fall instead of summer.

I decided to up the difficulty a tick to Expert for my playthrough... I wouldn't stand a chance without copious self-brewed potions, but I'm leveling like crazy because heavy armor and blocking are among my class skills. So I was level 12 by the time I got to the first Oblivion gate, just stopping at various dungeons along the way without *too* much meandering. But yeah, everything from those very first mudcrabs to now the forest trolls and bandits decked out with enchanted weapons has been pretty brutal.

I'm having a blast with it so far. I have an RTX 3080 but it's managing 60fps+ at 4K with DLSS, so can't fault it. It's a lot more polished than I was expecting.

Sure, I'd have loved if it was cheaper but it really is a comprehensive remake and I enjoyed the original back in the day.

I don’t know how you people let the best gaming release thread of the year (so far) turn into a childish argument about Diablo but let me just say D4 is one of the worst most mindless games I’ve ever played, it doesn’t hold a candle to D1 or D2.

Anyway back to TES. I bought it but gonna clean Win11 install Fri on a new 990Pro since my build is over 4 years old and having some little issues I want to blow away. Gonna play this weekend. Can’t wait to try out all the modern tech like hardware lumen RT, DLSS 4 transformer models etc. Only got a 4070 but think it’ll be solid enough.

Virtually every time you engage with Roguesix the discussion will devolve into childishness. So don't do it.

Let's be real here. D2:LOD post 1.10 is arguably the best ARPG ever made

Nope. Complete garbage is what it is. I had to force myself hard to even finish D2R after the rekindled novelty of the first ten character levels had worn off. What a boring and slow slog that game is/was with super-crap loot (only drops shit for the class that is NOT your currently played one). A yawnfest par excellence. Gimme Diablo IV over Diablo 2 Resurrected any day.
Diablo 2 might have been great in the year 2000 (I enjoyed it back then) but now it is rotten garbage.

... while Oblivion was a pretty big downgrade from everything that made Morrowind (and the Elder Scrolls games in general) cool

... aaaaaaand NOPE again. Oblivion remains my favorite TES. Daggerfall was an abysmal piece of shit with its ass graphics, bugs bunny overload and everything randomized from top to bottom. It was the first most generic game ever. What a piece of low quality trash. Morrowind was much better but the awkward combat and the weird wiki style dialogues ruined it. Too generic as well.

Oblivion had its warts due to the sledgehammer level scaling and the boring Oblivion gates but the game was oozing atmosphere and the actual content was extremely good (the unforgettable DB quest line, the unforgettable quest in the paining, the dream world, the schizo elf, the Thieves Guild quest line etc. etc. etc.) plus superb exploration of many beautiful locales.

Let me use some language that RogueSix will understand: Aaaaan NOPE....you are wrong and I am right. You have no idea what you are talking about, and I know for a fact that my view of the world and ALL THE THINGS in it is much more correct than yours is.

You already made that perfectly clear in your previous post that you accept no other opinions than your own .

Oh look, it understands!

D2:R is arguably in the same league, if not much better than this. Let's be real here. D2:LOD post 1.10 is arguably the best ARPG ever made, while Oblivion was a pretty big downgrade from everything that made Morrowind (and the Elder Scrolls games in general) cool.

Was really looking forward to this, hoping it was good. But not even a token discount or break for owners of older versions? I guess that would be most of their audience by this point, but still, a bit much. EDIT: GreenMan has it for 8 bucks less than full, so there's that if you don't have patience for a sale.

Just get Gamepass and play it. Much cheaper.

So weird that they dropped this cold with no hype or advertising. I guess the audience is built in, and this would spread through sites like this and word of mouth? With 120K concurrent players, they probably have already sold a million of these.
Yeah, I was like huh but then I don't read gaming news sites often like I used to. I finally finished Oblivion like five years ago. I enjoyed it. Nooooo, I am not touching remaster at this time.
