Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm officially announce Star Wars Zero Company, the turn-based tactics game it first teased earlier this week. Set during the Clone Wars, rather than the XCOM clone wars, this is in development at Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment, following years of speculation. It's coming in 2026 on PC and consoles, and listings for the Windows edition are now live on the Epic Games Store and Steam. An Official Announce Trailer has a cinematic intro and a first look at gameplay. Here's word:
At Star Wars™ Celebration Japan, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) revealed Star Wars Zero Company™, a single-player turn-based tactics game developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. In Star Wars Zero Company, players will step into the shoes of Hawks, a former Republic officer, to command an elite squad of cunning operatives through a gritty and authentic story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. As an unconventional outfit of professionals for hire hailing from across the galaxy, Zero Company must set aside their differences to overcome nearly impossible odds and take on an emerging threat that will consume the galaxy if left unchecked.
“Our vision for Star Wars Zero Company is grounded in gameplay design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Wars galaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay,” said Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor. “It’s our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation.”
“At Lucasfilm Games, we’re huge tactics fans and we have wanted to make a game like this for a long time,” said Douglas Reilly, GM & VP, Lucasfilm Games. “The best tactics games are all about meaningful choices, and we’re confident we have chosen the right squad in Bit Reactor to deliver a compelling and innovative title that is authentic to Star Wars.”
In Star Wars Zero Company, players will embark on a campaign of tactical operations and investigations across the galaxy. Between missions, they will develop a base of operations and gather intelligence through a network of informants to stay one step ahead of Zero Company’s adversaries. Players will have the freedom to create and customize their own squad of recruited operators while getting to know a cast of newly authored Star Wars characters.
Hawks’ appearance and combat class can be fully customized, while recruited operatives can be personalized from a range of original Star Wars character classes and species. Tailor squadmates’ appearances, load-outs, and abilities across a wide variety of character archetypes, including Clone Troopers, astromechs and even a Jedi. While in the field, members of Zero Company will forge bonds between them to unlock powerful combat synergies that can turn the tide of battle. With near-endless possibilities and high-stakes encounters that could change the fate of the galaxy, players will need intense preparation, adept strategy, and the right squad to succeed.
Star Wars Zero Company will be released in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Wishlist the game now.

You could argue the best Star Wars property in the past 20 years has no lightsabers.
Andor.
And (almost) no one will ever know the veracity of that claim because it is an episodic streaming format that requires a lame subscription to some dumbass service no one wants.
Whatever the hell Andor is, or was, doesn't and will never exist in muh precious Star Wars universe because I will never watch it.
However, I just googled it, and it is set in a more interesting time period at least and as a prequel to Rogue One (omg my squad leader!) definitely potentially much more interesting than this lame clone wars garbage pitched here.
As far as I am concerned, I would have hoped for a unit- rather than hero-based turn-based tactics game anyway. Something like Star Wars Rebellion (but better) or BattleTech (but with more units) or like Fantasy General etc. etc. etc. but I guess that wouldn't be exploitable enough with MTX for EA. No, no, no. Gotta have those heroes and tons of cosmetics to squeeze monies out of fools *sigh*.

Roguesix doesn't seem to like much. Maybe he's hitting that early "get off my lawn" stage of his life.
You know...where everything was better back then and the kids these days don't know what it means to have and like anything with taste.
Wait...that may be me too...![]()
Dude, early? I hit that stage 20 years ago.
(OK, maybe 15 years).

Regarding the game itself, I'll wait to see reviews. If it's good I'd play it

The Clone Wars is really the only setting that makes sense for the whole 'assemble your own fantasy team' thing. Aside from the Clones themselves, that was the last time there were enough Mandalorians and Jedi roaming around that it wouldn't be a big deal to see one just doing their thing.
Not sure why everyone seems to think Jedi are REQUIRED for it to be a Star Wars game.
It's literally half a galaxy full of amazing stories. They don't ALL have to have a ton of lightsabers.

Clone wars is a great era to set this game. Sure the movies mostly sucked, but the Clone Wars animated series was really good, and where most of the memorable content from that era stems.
Don't fuck it up EA!
