How hard is it to give players the exact navel combat experience of Black Flag 4? Apparently hard.

Well, according to rumors, UbiSoft already has the next AAAA masterpiece in development: A new Battle Royale game inspired by Apex Legends.

Um. Yay? Headscratch

I mean, sure, why not flush even more monies down the shitter after S&B and XDefiant flopped. Three times' the charm, right, Ubi? FLUSH HARDAAAHHHH!!! Flush

Yep. All we wanted was a game centered around the naval portion of AC:BF set in the same timeframe. It should have been a slam dunk.

Pirates was worth the long distance phone call to 0 day warez on that sweet 14.4k modem I shoplifted, back in the day, on my Amiga 500 when I was 16 or 17 anyways. But you can get a newer version on Steam for less now.

Sk&B is being given away for fee because it has no value. Not even worth pirating.

In semi-related news, there is now also a demo for Star Wars Outlaws. I will definitely wait until I own a RTX 6090 to buy/play that one . The graphics are pretty great but ouch, man, the performance with a RTX 4090 is abysmally bad (4K all maxed out).

As for S&B, I actually grabbed that one on sale a while ago and "finished" it as far as that is possible in an online game like this, i.e. explored the whole map and finished all of the main missions from the pirate leaders in the various areas of the world. It is remarkably short in that regard. Past that, there is a strong focus to keep you grinding for upgrades if you want to engage in the MMO-style aspects of the game like PvP or world bosses and bullshit like that.

I had zero interest in any of that crap and uninstalled after ~40 hours when a helm mission actually involved forced PvP. On this very first forced PvP mission, I got almost insta-ganked by someone in a ship about a million times more powerful than mine, too, so you got your usual n00b-preying gankers in S&B like in all online games. Can't be bothered with BS like this in 2025 when there are so many better games to play.

Lol I quit about an hour into the free eight hour trial when it was released…. It’s sure as fuck not Sid Meiers pirates, would have been dope if was. Like it’s real pretty and all, but its missing that fun part found in Pirates.
