Larian announces the launch of Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 for PC and consoles, saying this final major update for the RPG sequel "goes out with a bang." This adds crossplay support and a dedicated photo mode as well as new content, including a dozen new subclasses. An accompanying update to the Official Modding Toolkit also introduces what's being called "partial level editing." The Windows and macOS update is on Steam, where the game is currently on sale. This video has details on a patch launch livestream coming tomorrow. Here's more on how this release marks the team fully moving on to its next project:
You’ve helped us make BG3 a bigger success than any of us could’ve ever hoped for, and that passion could keep us tweaking things and making changes until the end of time. But then we’d never be able to create something new.
Outside of minor bug fixing, Patch 8 will be the last game patch to introduce new content. That means we won’t be adding any new narrative content or significant changes to storylines, Origin characters, or companions. We’ve told our stories the way we needed to tell them, and tried our best to make them impactful and engaging, and we’re continuing to get better at handling our own chaos so that we can continue to create more chaos in the future.
From the start, your feedback has been incredibly important to us, and will continue to shape our future projects. As Swen said during the Baldur’s Gate 3 retrospective panel at PAX West in August of last year, it’s time for the team to go back to our cave and hang the armour on the wall while we focus on bringing you our next project.

One of the best games I've ever played....but...I'm struggling to replay it. I think it's because it's only been a year and it's still fresh, so I can remember how to do things, where (most) of the best stuff is, and how things generally play out. The sense of wonder and discovery isn't there. So just kinda feels like going through the motions until I get to the bits of narrative that are different (doing a Durge run this time).
I think it's just me though, as countless are on their 3,4,5th playthrough.

I have several drives, some are larger but they are being used. I do need to upgrade, I think my system is from 2017, but with a 3080. It wont run win11.

Just got through downloading the full patch via Gog, all ~147 wondrous gbs of it. Looks good, but can I get into it again? That is the question. It's possible--yea, I do declare--it's consummately possible...;)

Frustratingly large patch. I can't patch on a 256gb SSD. Game is 140 GB installed and you have to have 140GB free to patch it.

Probably still a hotfix for it, or two before it's REALLY over. Then all those waiting for it to be feature complete and done can now play it!![]()
