Marathon is expected to launch on PC and consoles on September 23rd, putting Bungie's extraction shooter revival head-to-head with the the planned release of Borderlands 4. This was revealed shortly ago on Twitch, where a live presentation is still underway as of right now. In addition to the launch date and details about gameplay, the stream also unveils plans for alpha testing, saying it begins on April 23rd, directing interested players to the Marathon Discord for details on how to participate. There's also a separate new Gameplay Overview Trailer with a look. Here's the description:

The original Marathon (1994) was ground-breaking and imaginative. This game looks like the opposite of that.

PvP extraction shooter? No, thanks. Let's see what the single-player looter shooter offers instead. Although I'm not sold on Borderlands 4 yet.
