A report on LBC details the removal of a game called No Mercy from Steam in the U.K., Canada, and Australia, due to its graphic depictions of sexual violence (thanks GamesIndustry.biz). This includes incest, and "unavoidable non-consensual sex," a taboo so strong the word for it is considered poison for Search Engine Optimization. The story quotes UK home secretary Yvette Cooper saying that the government's powers to censor such content are growing stronger even as you read these words: "That sort of vile material is already currently illegal. We have stronger powers being brought in as part of the online safety act to make sure that platforms of all kinds meet certain standards. Those powers are being rolled out at the moment." The game is still listed on Steam in the U.S., but you must sign into your account to view it, as it includes seriously hardcore sex scenes right up top in an autoplay video. The "About" section is disturbing enough that the instruction to "Never take 'no' for an answer" is arguably its least problematic idea. Here's the disclaimer one must acknowledge in order to view the game:
The developers describe the content like this: “This game graphically contains sex and violence, mature language, nudity, graphic depictions of oral, vaginal, and other sexual activities. The content includes incest, blackmail, unavoidable non-consensual sex, as well as the use of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. There is avoidable NTR (netorare) content in the prologue, which serves as an introduction to the story and is entirely skippable. All consensual sexual situations are depicted as occurring between consenting adults. This game includes adult themes and is intended for adults 18 years and older. The characters, story, and events are works of fiction and bear no ties to reality.”

The trailer shows a penis, and a blow job. I don't think that's necessary in a trailer, and probably against the rules on Steam... and it looks like they've taken the page down.

There is no reason to make a game like this. I know some will disagree with me, but I had to say it.
I will disagree. If movies like https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/ (Irreversible) can exist, and not only exist but win awards and acclaim across the globe, then why would the gaming medium be off limits to disturbing themes of this nature?
I mean we already have games where we slaughter entire civilizations but anything related to sex is somehow offensive?

It is not your mother, it is your step-mother who is somewhat close in age to the main character.
That's an enormous difference.

It is different, though, no? Irreversible has a rape, but you're not the character raping, it isn't raping your mother, and the rape is shown to be awful and devastating not a goal to be proud of because all women secretly like being raped, especially those who deserve it
Really? This is what is being presented as a matter of fact, in the game?
