The Last of Us Part II Remastered Catch Up

The Last of Us Part II Remastered for Windows landed on Steam on Friday as promised, so apologies for not mentioning it at the time. The sort-of good news is there's no launch discount, so nothing missed there. The first hotfix for the PC edition of the mold-infested action/adventure is already here, and this post has the patch notes. Sony no longer requires the PlayStation Network to play its games on PC, but there are incentives for linking your accounts and doing so. Here's the Launch Trailer and here's more on the game:

Experience the winner of over 300 Game of the Year awards now with an array of technical enhancements that make The Last of Us Part II Remastered the definitive way to play Ellie and Abby’s critically acclaimed story.

Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure.

Well advanced in playing TLOU2, excellent game.

Used a Nexus Mods game plus save from another gamer to start my own with already some115 Gameplay Modifier points to use in the cheat menu in Main Menu, Extras, Gameplay Modifiers.

Get perks and play a really relaxing shooter/exploring game: you choose when to use infinite ammo, or automatic slow time when aiming your pistol, one shot / one strike kills, no melee weapon breaks, more radar time, etc.

Luring zombies into a choke point where they can be killed with minimal effort and resources just sounds reasonable, not "chicken without a head."

Molotov cocktails and bombs are not "minimal effort and resources". They require quite a bit of stuff that could be better used for upgrades and those shivs (I think is what they were called). And have you played the level? To get all the zombies to aggro on you, yes, you would have to run around the entire area exactly like a headless chicken to "collect" them all behind you. It is a completely silly and ridiculous "solution" and just shows how crappy the game is designed that anyone would even come up with this "strategy" at all.

Oh well. Even if I would have made it past this point, I doubt I would have lasted much longer. Had to force myself to start up the game every time. I really hated the trial & error gameplay. Most boring slog ever. I'd rather play a real walking simulator than this shit.

Looks like it has the same bullshit consolized controls as the first game so EXTRA hard pass.

Hated the first game and quit at that ridiculous graveyard level that was swarming with annoying zombies. A website guide on the net seriously suggested to run around the area like a headless chicken to get all the zombies to aggro on you and then throw a couple molotov cocktails into the bunch. LOLNOPE. What kinda shit suggestion for a shit game is that? You call that sort of stuff "gameplay"? I call it unadulterated garbage. On top of the excremental controls. Fuck that shit. Sony can shove their lame-ass johnny-come-lately PC ports if they are not willing to do the least bit of adaptation.

I honestly don't even recall this part. Usually bad moments in a game stick with me... Maybe it wasn't bad for everyone?

It's a skill issue. I had zero issues with the graveyard.

Yup. Might have been a skill issue but once again: It was a guide on the internet on a popular website (I don't remember which one exactly) that suggested that silly headless chicken "strategy" for the level. I uninstalled right there. That's not gameplay. That's plain bullshit and poor design.

My patience with the game was running extremely low at that point anyway due to the shitty controls and the consolitis. What a boring game. You just entered a new area, had to trigger the zombies, let them kill you, remember the zombie types/numbers/positions/paths of attack, reload, kill zombies in the most effective way to preserve ammo/resources or sneak around them, rinse, repeat. Super-fucking-yawn. What a boring slog that game was.
Pretteh graphics? Yeah. But that was all the game had going in its favor. Everything else was abysmally bad.

P.S.: Just looked it up. The graveyard is in chapter 4 after you meet that one dude (Bill) and shortly after a stay at his safehouse and the guide was on Gamepressure. It seriously recommends to clear the level like this:

Instead, try and run through the entire graveyard as fast as you can, and gather all of them in a narrow passage. Then, two bombs or Molotov's cocktails will do the work and kill an entire group.

^ LOLNOPE@headless chicken "strategy". The uninstall button is my solution, amigos. Glad I only bought the game on sale from CDKeys.com. Second game has gone straight on the shit/ignore list. I can't be bothered with even more late stage consolitis, clunky as fuck controls and that stupid trial & error "gameplay".

I also never heard boo here about Blue Prince. I found that odd too.
And on Blues News no less! I think the official release for that one is the 10th. Reviews seem pretty positive.

If you cant do console controls I get it but I've clocked that game on every difficulty. Thats one of my favorite sections, mostly due to being early game with few resources so you have to be super efficient. It's about being methodical with molotovs and the most powerful weapon of all... the brick.

I posted this in the PC benchmark thread but I will repost it here:

If you launch the game, it goes to a black screen, it then crashes, and you have a CPU with an iGP, disable the iGP in Linux or Windows. This seems to resolve many of the cases I have seen with that black screen and then crash issues. I had to use it myself as my system was exhibiting the above described behavior and that fixed the issue.

Nice. I was going to buy this regardless, but it's good to see they have already hot fixed some bugs.
