A new Game Update video for Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 discusses the status of the action/RPG sequel. Word right up front is the game is "done," before resetting expectations of what that means by announcing its release is being delayed to work out remaining bugs and stability/performance issues. Word is: "Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room are committed to delivering this game, and we believe that ensuring great technical quality is more important than sticking to a specific date." So rather than launching by the end of Q2, the game is now expected in October. Here's more:
The game is currently in a late development stage, and feedback from the community has been taken into account during this time. TCR is working hard on quality assurance to ensure it is stable and free of bugs that could disrupt the player experience.
Bloodlines 2 will launch in October 2025 when the game meets the technical quality standards that you, our fans, rightfully expect and deserve. Please stay tuned for the gameβs exact launch date.
We want to ensure that the content we share with you is high-quality and showcases exciting game features. With this updated release timeline, we will pause our development diaries so that the team can concentrate on refining the game. However, we will still be available online for questions and comments, and we welcome everyone to join the Bloodlines 2 Discord.

Dammit - Wrong again. You would think that I would be used to it by now. π Sorry

You're most likely joking and know exactly what game I mean, but since I am bad at reading the room, I'll clarify that I meant City Skylines 2. π

I can imagine the terrible state the game must be in for Paradox to delay it again,.
One could hope that they learned something from CS2?

It's because the game is in no condition to launch, based solely on the history of getting it made. I mean the current devs have only been working of the project for what... 2 years? 3? Who knows how much they had to throw out and start anew with from the previous devs.
The game has been plagued by constantly shifting dev teams, and I've not gotten any impression that it would be in a releasable state anytime soon.

Looks like Doom The Dark Ages scared them. From the trailers for the next doom. The devs should be. Looks amazing. Now it seems the devs will chase after halloween and christmas sales. Interesting decision. It may work. If people aren't waiting for the games that released earlier in the year to go on sale as well.
