So i played the original painkiller with the stake thrower and finished it.. it was entirely forgettable story wise and I don't remember any bosses but I do remember sticking guys to walls with the stakes.

I'll say this, the one they are showing in the trailers looks like it has tons of enemies on screen which looks like it could be a LOT of fun.

I thought Painkiller was the one where the last level was the final circle of hell where there was all these wars frozen in time but I'm wrong about that.

Edit: i was looking at the wrong painkiller?!? It was the original one with the last level being pretty cool unique for all those wars frozen in time.

Should sell like crazy because people love their painkillers! I heard that Darth Dumbus (aka Sith Lord Donald) wants less Painkiller in the US. I also didn't know that Painkiller gets smuggled into the US from Mexico and Canada. Who would have guessed?

You could copy the soundtrack from the game files. I had them on a mp3 player and would listen to them every day. I looked for a Mech but never found one. Much of the PK atmosphere was based on the music. I hope they use something similar else it won't be the same.

It was a few years after release before I got to Painkiller, but I remember hating it. I still finished it, because I did that back then, but I hated it. Then again, I finished Alan Wake and I absolutely loathed that game, so maybe I still sometimes do it.

I can't remember why, I think I liked the weapons but hated the combat, particularly the bosses

edit - maybe I misremember. In 2004 I said "Painkiller was damn fun." Maybe it was just moments of the game I hated. I still think I hated the bosses.
Controversial opinion - Bulletstorm was better, but more flawed.

a bit of trivia:
Half Life 2 is usually credited with bringing advanced physics to gaming. Painkiller preceeded it by 8 months

This trailer makes the combat and movement feel slow. I hope it's a presentation decision because I miss fast-paced/twitchy games. . Aesthetically, it looks closer to the new Doom than the original Painkiller, which isn't a bad thing.

Wonder whether Vo0 will come out of retirement for this. Watching Sander play was always a pleasure, particularly in CPM.

I didn't know about that 2021 teaser, or that a new game was being made.
Think a few of us in a recent post all talked about how we enjoyed the original Painkiller so much.

Throw it on the ol'wishlist.

the original was so atmospheric, everything that followed kind of sucked. I hope this one captures the magic instead of being gimmicky with the weapons and such

Well, after all the terrible sequels and expansions for the original game, I guess they have a low bar to clear for this to be at least decent?
