A new update called Ghoul Within is now live in Fallout 76, adding new content to the post-apocalyptic RPG prequel (thanks Dave). As the name suggests, this adds the ability to play the game as a Ghoul, something that's gained considerable appeal since Walton Goggins made being a Ghoul cool in the Fallout TV series. Bethesda offers Release Notes (also on Steam) revealing what's new, outlining the process for "Ghoulification," 30 new Ghoul perks, and related Season 20 content. There's also a way to become human again, described as a "one-way ticket." Here's the Fallout 76 Season 20 Glow of the Ghoul Trailer and a bit on the pros and cons of this transformation:
Becoming a Ghoul sheds the need to sate your hunger and thirst. Instead, you battle against a gnawing desire to slip back into your base nature, abandoning all sanity you might have had.
The new Feral meter drains over time and can only be filled back up by consuming Chems. You may not want to keep that meter 100% filled though. Your Feral status provides different bonuses and penalties depending on how full the meter is.

So, a lot of supposed “fans” are complaining. The game is free to play. The devs deserve to make some money. The complainers are a bunch of entitled spoiled children.
Ok this is just false. It's literally NOT free to play. It's 39.99 on steam but currently on 75% discount for $9.99.

I do wish there was a way to earn the items through gameplay as well, like they have with previous Atom shop items like lunchboxes and repair kits. Maybe they'll add that eventually.

So, a lot of supposed “fans” are complaining. The first cycle of becoming a ghoul and reverted back is a freebie. Afterwards costs Atoms. I’ve played on and off for years. I have Zero problem with this. The game is free to play. The expansions are free. The devs deserve to make some money. The complainers are a bunch of entitled spoiled children.
