Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Passes 1M Sales

Warhorse Studios announces on XTwitter that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has racked-up over one million sales in the hot minute since yesterday's launch of the medieval action/RPG sequel:
Over a million of you have stepped into our world. We're beyond grateful for your support - thank you for making #KCD2 a triumph!

Thanks guys, seeing how concerned you are about my ROI means a lot to me. My daughters cocaine white Phantom droptop that I bought her for maintaining a C average in high school sure as fuck didn't pay for its self. That took a lot of hard word… well not hard for me, but for the losers who are all leeching on us, collecting unemployment.. god how gross, maybe work harder like my daughter?

Exactly. Does nobody think of the poor shareholders? Value needs to go up! Don't be just profitable, but be MORE profitable every quarter! Fire more people = more profit.

I am enjoying the game. It has a lot of the elements I like, griding to level things up and such. Progression system based on doing things.
Becoming overpowered by those same systems. Combat also feels better, or maybe less confusing than prior game.

I'll probably never play this, but I admire them for trying to bring some innovation to the RPG genre.

Well, if this was a Ubisoft or EA game, that would be considered an abject failure, obviously caused by wokness.

What's wrong with wokness? I made a vegetarian chow mein in my German carbon steel wok the other night and it was delicious.

LOL, exactly.

That's the point I've just arrived at, and yep, it took about 3 hours to get there... I wouldn't say it was boring, but it certainly sets the tone and will shake out many an impatient 2-hour refund window trial-goer. This is a deep, immersive RPG, not a typical AAADHD action game. Anybody that scoffs at taking a few minutes to work through a single dialogue tree, or learn to play dice, or brew a potion from a step-by-step recipe written on a page, or learn a combat system that isn't just mashing a couple buttons, etc., probably shouldn't bother.

Ubisoft, EA, Sony, Square: We anticipated 10 million sales in the first two weeks, and players would have loved our steady stream of cosmetic MTX, but the paltry 1 million sales did not meet our sales expectations, so we are immediately withdrawing further support, and will be pulling the game from the store in one month's time. We wanted a Fortnite!
You said it brother. I want to know what the sales expectations are/were for this game before launch. The game is niche in a number of ways but I hope it does well and exceeds expectations so that more niche games of this size can be made.

Watched some of this game stream and it was like nonstop conversations with boring npcs and carrying sacks into a pantry. Like wtf is this? Hope it's actually a good game and I just got 15 min of the intro or something but not buying after seeing that. At least the FF7 Rebirth cutscenes are funny or interesting and I can 1.5x them.

Yeah, what you were watching was the intro, right before the main part of the game begins. The beginning of the game is very slow, which is partly due to many flashbacks/references to the first game, and a bunch of tutorials. In the end the intro felt really drawn out.

However, I wouldn't judge the entire game by the intro. It's after the intro where the fun really begins because that's when you are given freedom to go and do whatever you want. I can't speak for the quality of the main storyline, but I doubt it's as boring as parts of the intro, given how well the game was reviewed.

Also they (Warhorse) certainly deserve praise for the fact that they gave a free Steam key to KCD1 backers (though I don't know if every backer got one or just from a certain level on). Completely on their own as a "thank you" because "we were able to bring Kingdom Come: Deliverance to life—the game of our dreams" (OT).

Just raising a bit of awareness for an actual nice thing

One million masochists with shit taste .

Edit: OK, I stand corrected on the number of masochists (the shit taste remains an unchangeable fact). The real number of masochists is only ~970K as the various save game mods have been downloaded ~30K times.

I always though MTX stood for micro transactions, how the fuck is a MTX $30-50... There is nothing micro about that. Why are game devs hell bent on running the servers, whatever happened to us running our own servers, ohhh yeah MTX. I mean oviously if you're not getting fortnight numbers on day one you need to shut it all down, why even bother trying.
