That's definitely not the only place we differ.

While I appreciate the sentiment, I am absolutely glad that BN doesn't have the same cancerous dopamine addiction boxes as social media.

That is where we differ. Accepting responsibility and accountability should be in everything one does in my view. Be it interacting with an entertainment company, buying a product, choosing what one eats, and so on.It is, in my opinion, the difference between "I choose to take control of my life at all opportunities" and "Life happens to me". Life, in a lot of ways, is like a successful marriage in my experience. Sure, the big things matter (ala your grave importance) but the small things matter and add up to being even more impactful than the big things. But not everyone's experience is the same.

I could see the whole accepting responsibility and accountability thing when it comes to matters of grave importance. But these are games. People just want to play and have fun. They shouldn't need to run background checks and set up a bunch of safeguards to play a damn game to relax.

I'm a little tired of people not accepting their role and responsibility in perpetuating this behavior. It's weird how corporations stop doing things when it stops making money.

People know corporations are soulless, unethical, amoral entities who can and will exploit them at every opportunity. This has been crystal clear for literal decades.

It's like sticking your hand in a fire and then whining that you were burned. You knew what would happen going in.

Sure, corporations should be held accountable for their actions but there's abundant evidence that they won't ever be in any meaningful way. So the only recourse left is to not engage with them or their products.

If a person chooses to do so, they need to deal with the consequences without whining.

I am gonna use this phrase twice in the same day on the forums. I think that might be a first, although I am sure I have thought it before.

This industry is such a damn clown show at the AAA level. Nobody knows up from down or right from left and they operate like that is just dandy until the floor falls out from below them. Then it's a blame shifting game between developer and publisher sprinkled with the idiots on the web who think death threats are appropriate for anything. WB and GaaS are just living up to the norm these days. Hopefully the fans of this game will remember this next time they are tempted to purchase from either. It's the only thing that companies understand, money.

I'm a little tired of the blame always being put on the fans. It sure sounds like a case of victim blaming, albeit a mild one. I know, I know... they're stupid and you're so much smarter than them. I've heard it a thousand times. Move along. As usual the actual villains are ignored and the vile practice is accepted and allowed to continue unabated.

People still going shocked pikachu when games as a service do what games as a service do. Quit supporting games that don't have an offline mode.

Recent Steam reviews are mostly negative, justifiably so.

Then they'll continue to be fleeced. I would have empathy were it the first time. It isn't. You know what you are getting in to with a GaaS product by now.
