I was so confused as to why conservatives are trying to say DEI led to the plane crash. The FAA is understaffed. DEI wouldn't lead to that.

Then JD Vance's comments made it make sense. It all made sense. Conservatives have zero actual experience with this stuff, so they make it up in their heads. They assume DEI means you aren't allowed to hire white men. That makes it racist and makes it lead to less hiring, or hiring of lesser people. But that isn't what DEI is. It's just expanding your talent pool. It lead to more hiring because you're casting a wider net. You're still hiring the person that is best for the role, and of you're hiring someone not very capable it's either because you made a mistake or there was no fully qualified candidate for the role at that salary in that region. It's not because you hired a Latina lesbian with a GED for a role that requires a PhD.

So yeah, fear mongering and limited real world experience is causing all these political issues. Or, y'know, as they said in a very famous anti-racism film, morons.
