I actually do stupid stuff, BoP, like mountain biking in the middle of nowhere where it could take hours for someone to carry me out, or for me to walk out, not to mention some of the planes we fly can easily cut a limb down to the bone, so I think one of those in my go-bag for emergencies is a good idea.

This just made me go through my go-bag and car first aid kit and restock. Lot's of old crap in there that was way past it's shelf life.

I feel you though I prefer to call it "vigorous adventuring". A couple of weeks back, the dogs and I were on an extended trek during that polar vortex storm that hit and wilderness camped throughout it. That was fun! Many people in my inner circle used phrases like "crazy", "goddamned stupid", and "do you want to die".

I wasn't trying to wholly dissuade you, just give you a better picture of when it would be appropriate to apply. I keep an expanded first aid kit in both trucks, my 30L backpack, and my 70L backpack. My 30L is my "everyday carry" bag and the one I also take to work with me. Given our propensity here in the States for school shootings, it seemed wise to me be able to patch myself or someone else up until proper medical aid can arrive.

I go through my kits on a quarterly basis and rotate out what is nearing expiration date. I keep a little slip of paper in each of them with item, quantity, and installed date written in pencil so it is easy to amend and update as needed. It's in a tough plastic sleeve that I have adhered to the underside of the lid.
