As long as there's no parkour, I'm in.
Imagine not knowing how to do basic jumping since...the Quake era. 🤦♂️🤦♀️
I'm not talking about 'basic jumping'. I'm talking about the Tarzan nonsense in Doom Eternal.
I couldn’t stand Doom Eternal for several reasons:
1. No real story -- just endless codex entries.
2. Gimmicky arenas instead of logical level design. Apparently, Hell and its demons are big fans of Monkey Joe’s because parkour is everywhere.
3. Overly complex rock/paper/scissors combat. Too many variables, and that damn shoulder cannon ruined the flow. Worst of all, it committed a cardinal sin: it took away player choice and dictated how we had to play. Want to run the whole game with just the shotgun? Too bad.
And yet, somehow, Eternal got more praise than DOOM 2016, a game I found superior in every way. Thankfully, Dark Ages seems to be following in DOOM 2016’s footsteps. Praise Beelzebub for that.
