Preordered it and I never do that but the preorder sale price is great. Looks like some nice tweaks for PC and no blurfest like the console. Love FF7 it's a masterpiece, still got my disks from the 90s next to Quake on my bookshelf. Yea the Remake took a 4 hour intro city and bloated it to 40 hours and added a lot of dumb stuff like whispers/fate/plot changes, but oh well, I still want to play Rebirth.
I miss turn based combat (peaking at FFX let's face it) too and the perfectly concise 40 hour original but still enjoy these new titles. The action based combat system is quite good once you get used to it, and you can keep issuing commands to party members so good enough. As a multiplayer FPS and Soulsborne junky this will be a nice change of pace for me.

Wish there was an option for the original turn based combat of FF7. Was disappointed to learn the combat was action orientated/real time.
I'm hoping the recent success of the Dragon Quest 3-HD 2D Remake shows SquareEnix, and other game companies, there is success to be had by going the, basically, 1:1 remake route with classic RPGs.
There's not often a thread on a forum somewhere when FFVII remake is being discussed where someone will not say, whether in context of the conversation or not, say "I wish they just remade FFVII PSX with just updated graphics".
That said, I don't personally mind the direction they took with this remake. Fresh take on something I already probably played 20x + over the last 25 years.
