Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance to be Delisted

Though the game is still sold on Steam, the listing for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance announces that this D&D action/RPG developed by Tuque Games is being delisted on February 24, 2025. At that point the servers will be permanently taken offline and the game will no longer be offered for sale, though it and all its DLC will still be playable in offline single-player mode. Here are the details:

We will be shutting down (shut down) the Dark Alliance servers on 2/24/2025 and it will no longer be available to purchase starting that day. The base game and all DLC are still available to play in offline single player by anyone who currently owns it.

Dark Alliance brings to life the world of Dungeons & Dragons in an explosive action brawler filled with real-time combat and dynamic co-op.

Frost giants and vengeful dragons roam unchecked through Icewind Dale as invading armies of evil grow stronger every day. Now four heroes must beat back the onslaught of creatures and defend against the dark.

Damn the luck. Maybe I can refund it, and buy it again lol.

from their refunds policy:

We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.

I'm a big fan of the two original Dark Alliance games (bought them on Steam and still own the PS2 discs) and I never touched this new sequel. I saw enough videos of it and heard enough to realize it was nothing like the first two and passed on it. The intended demographic was, apparently, people new to the series and to D&D and they had hoped old farts like me bought it on name recognition alone. Thankfully, people are more careful with their money nowadays and didn't bite.

The game was bad, simply put. It wasn't a true Dark Alliance game and just used the name to try and reel older folks in. Nobody fell for it and it flopped hard due to that.

Did you know the original plan of the devs was a top-down Dark Alliance style? It actually looked pretty cool. They pitched it to TWotC and those fucking morons basically took over and said they should go with this third person crap.

Why are games with offline modes being delisted? Does it have something to do with licensing?
They don't want to maintain the servers anymore, and if they sold it without online functionality, there's a legal standpoint someone could sue them for false advertising.

Never played any of the Dark Alliance games because I've never seen them on sale at any reasonable discount. In the case of the first two, I'm not paying thirty bucks (each) for PC ports of console titles that are over 20 years old. As for this one.....I remember the bad reviews at launch so have never bothered with it.

Wait? This game is barely three year old. Wtf?
mediocre reviews and sold like shit

If it had something to do with music licensing, you'd think they would have just removed the music and changed it to some royalty free pablum.

I agree with the garbage part though. Piece of shit got delisted because running the servers was losing them money every month.

This is reminiscent of some of the Warhammer licensed games that don't meet expectations and get abandoned by the developers as well. Gone are the days of the gold big box pc TSR games, but I guess we're lucky to have Solasta and BG.

You're wrong. This is clearly being delisted because of the drones in NJ!
Which, shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, will soon require licensing and a pingable transponder that has a range longer than bluetooths.
I'm guessing the above, but i think it's an educated guess. Especially when mouthbreathing idiots shut down airports because ain't muh hobbie cool, something probably needs to be done.
