Simon Says wrote on Dec 14, 2024, 22:34:Nah, HD2 did deserve GOTY. Astro Bot is fun, but it's not the breakaway hit that HD2 was. It didn't blow up on social media like HD2 did and continues to. Even Wukong didn't have that much of an impact, and it's just a soulslike with Chinese mythology slapped on top of it.RedEye9 wrote on Dec 14, 2024, 18:52:
most sold doesn't mean GOTY
#Strawman, I never said HD2 should be GOTY or GOTY should be determined by sales.
I'm speaking about outliers and how Astro Bot doesn't seem at all what it's hyped up to allegedly be in with that award.
Compare to last year with BG3, it was undeniable, this one? Meh.RedEye9 wrote on Dec 14, 2024, 18:52:
it's still you
Lol, ok. *shrugs*RedEye9 wrote on Dec 14, 2024, 18:52:
it's ok to be wrong
*Nods in eager agreement*

Old men don't understand games not aimed at old men.
Shocked face?

Because the outlier appears to be you, so yeah, probably just you.
Simon Says wrote on Dec 14, 2024, 11:13:I had never heard of it. I watched a IGN review from three months ago, I was not impressed. Definitely looks to have the feel of a console game, which it is. Whatever. If people enjoy it, good for them. It is not for me.
Astro Bot winning GOTY got me curious...
I then watched a gameplay video on Youtube and I have no idea how this was even nominated.
It feels like a crap indie game mixed with late 90's N64 third person Mario64 and co. gameplay, but done incredibly badly and sloppily.
Makes all the other awards lose all credibility in my eyes, but that's just me. *shrugs*
