Because his story is over.

Nonsense, has his whole life been told?

You can write countless more stories with him taking place before, after the Witcher series games or even during the intermissions between them, it doesn't really matter.

The canonical ending has Geralt and Yennifer riding off into the sunset. Or Triss, if you went that way. In either case, he settles down.
It was satisfying.

There were witchers for, what, centuries? Millenia? Geralt is basically the last one. There are a lot of things we don't know about the thousands that came before him.

And I care about none of the them.

The serie of games is called THE Witcher, not The WitcherS or A Witcher.

We all know who THE is, if he's not front and center, it's not a "THE Witcher" game, it's a spin-off and should be renamed as such.

It's just a brand name recognition cash grab unless they correctly use a different title.

I said it countless times, if it's not Geralt, it's not THE Witcher, and it can't be THE Witcher 4 and I will continue to say it until universe heat death unless they correctly change the title before release.
Before Geralt was even alive, there were people that would have been referred to as "The Witcher" by the locals.

Hell, a story that takes place closer to the calamity that actually spawned all the monsters that Witchers were literally created to fight would be very interesting, both story wise, and in the fact that there would be a reason to have even more monsters at once, and introduce new ones that were killed off by the time of the books, which at that point, the world was in a decline magic wise, just like in Tokien's Middle Earth.

In the books geralt was not a god like in the game. I'm looking forward to see what they do in the new game.
I hope that they continue the tradition of prior games, where choices are gray and can have very different outcomes

Difficult to figure out what CDPR wants by trying to distance itself from Geralt. Geralt is The Witcher, and there is no other. Geralt put CDPR on the map--suddenly they don't want to even talk about Geralt any longer? Something is wrong, there, but in the absence of information it is impossible to figure out what. Are the people responsible for Witcher 3 still with the company? The only reason Punk '77 sold like it did initially is because everyone expected the same level of expertise they saw in Witcher 3. That sort of pre-order phenomenon will not happen again, I'll bet...;)

Because his story is over. Why would we need more Geralt? TW3 pretty neatly finished his story. The only way to continue it would be to undo all the closure, or to do a prequel, which... why? Why spend time with a guy whose story we already now? What new can we learn from a prequel?

I don't get people. On one hand, they complain about how Star Wars needs to tell stories not about Luke, because we know Luke's story and it's a huge universe with tons of stories to tell, but then they complain that TW needs to focus on Geralt and not explore its large universe.

It is well known that I cannot err--and so, if you should happen across an error in anything I have written you can be absolutely sure that *I* did not write it!...;)
