Out of the Blue [Nov 05, 2024, 10:27 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Today is Election Day in the U.S. If you are a voter, I'm really hoping this is
not the first you're hearing of this. MrsBlue and I are about to duck out to do
our civic duty. I promised the Pickle Rick on my desk an "I Voted" sticker, and
he seems excited about that. We expect things to go smoothly for us, so I really
appreciate those who willingly endure long-lines and other obstacles that stand
between them and democracy. The stakes are high and the rhetoric has reflected
that, so hopefully we can proceed peacefully through this process and its
aftermath, Guy Fawkes Night notwithstanding.
To follow up on my jury duty summons, last night I learned I don't have to report tomorrow, so my luck held out. My next check-in is after business tomorrow, when I find out if I'm required to report on Thursday. I'll keep you posted.

For most of their people, USA can be firmly categorized as a third world country, and not even among the better ones.
- Bought and power only motivated lying politicians and justices.
- Electoral college out of the 1700s, instead of 1 vote for person, gerrymandering, no national free day for voting as in almost every other country evidencing they don't want to make voting easy or honest.
No proportional representation (PR) but for few exceptions.
Two party system limiting political options.
- Hostile to workers unions, logic wages, no days off for ill workers, nor vacations as in all other 1st world and nearly all of 3rd world countries.
- Disappearing rights of women, now a second class citizenry, increasingly following although selectively, the tenets of one of so many fantasy religious books written centuries ago.
- ** Highest mortality of mothers in any developed country, or sterility and other sequels.
- No protections for the old in their unproductive years, same for infirm or incapacitated.
- Only developed country with no universal healthcare, more yet, powerful vetting unnecessary companies gorged on denying medical care against doctors recommendations.
- A slave working imprisoned POC population, many of them on trumped up charges by a corrupt police and system or smoking pot -the horror- for years.
- Ridiculously costly renting, housing and education, and getting worse in favour of the wealthy.
- Dozens of other points.
