Out of the Blue

Today is Election Day in the U.S. If you are a voter, I'm really hoping this is not the first you're hearing of this. MrsBlue and I are about to duck out to do our civic duty. I promised the Pickle Rick on my desk an "I Voted" sticker, and he seems excited about that. We expect things to go smoothly for us, so I really appreciate those who willingly endure long-lines and other obstacles that stand between them and democracy. The stakes are high and the rhetoric has reflected that, so hopefully we can proceed peacefully through this process and its aftermath, Guy Fawkes Night notwithstanding.

To follow up on my jury duty summons, last night I learned I don't have to report tomorrow, so my luck held out. My next check-in is after business tomorrow, when I find out if I'm required to report on Thursday. I'll keep you posted.

Elective Round-up

Uh, I'm pretty sure he knows exactly what's going on. Those states are red for a reason. Last I checked voters in those states had the same rights to vote how they want as anybody else.
Yay democracy!

I don't get how democracy explains why my neighbor can make medical decisions for me. It's also odd that we decide that the state is the right level to decide this and not, just maybe, the people actually in the doctor's exam room.

How I see the election...at least I can argue one candidate's policy and honestly hold them accountable when they, expectedly and undoubtedly, never follow through with it. The other, I know they like to invite people they don't know or vet to speak at their rallies, surround themselves with sycophants and extremely unhinged people, espouse dictatorships as being 'smart', laud all over a golfer's genital size, and calling everyone who stands against them as the enemy and cheaters.

While I dislike Harris greatly, the defacto two-party system means I am literally voting the lesser of the two evils.

I certainly agree with that. Unfortunately, far too many people are too busy living their lives, all too often living from pay check to pay check. They either don't have the time, the knowledge of how to do it, or any interest to do it anyway. Because of that, they depend on what they see on their tvs or what their "good buddy" tells them. If voters were well informed Trump would never have won a nomination let alone an election. And yet, he may win again...

There are 3 parties.
Democrat's, Republican's. and the GOP.
The last republican I would have voted for is McCain (near the end of his life McCain).
As BoP said, ya got a adderall fueled person who I wouldn't trust if someone I hated life's depended on it.
And ya got a person who largely was ignored the last 4 years until the sitting president couldn't keep up in a debate.

I know who I want to win, but fer fuck sake it's like Meteor 2016 all over again. Just lets get this over with, one way or another.

Never happened, baby. From the beginning of America - when they wanted to remain with Britain - right up to them murdering JFK, then trying to end democracy the first time with Nixon, they've always been the same old greedy socio/psychopathic carpetbaggers exploiting everyone and everything all in the pursuit of their god the dollar. Huh, that would be a good rapper name, God the Dollar.

Basically everyone here is a democrat. For the record, I'm a minority living in los angeles (half puerto rican in fact) and I am not voting for corrupted Kamala. I heard all the things she said and flip flopped on and none of it represents me or does anything but take my country down a path I don't want to walk.

I listened to what Trump said and got my information directly from the source, unfiltered. The MSM spews an incredible amount of lies. If you're not doing everything you can to be Well Informed then you don't know anything... and please don't think "Faux News" is a source of truth on what Trump says, they are MSM.

You don't know much about what's been going in politics lately, eh? She died because the radical religious SCOTUS appointees overturned Roe and then the red states starting adoption heinous laws around abortion and the care for mother's when they are pregnant. In Texas, (not just Texas) women are DYING because the doctors can be prosecuted for "killing" an unborn baby, even if the mother's life is at risk. Politicians are now deciding healthcare, for women, and it's literally killing some of them. Why do old white men who aren't even in the medical field playing life and death with women's reproductive rights? Ok ok I know the answer. Religion, of course. The scourge of society.

Exactly why I refuse to participate. You people have lost any sense of human decency and I will not be a part of any system that you espouse.

You answered your own question -- it's not "Sportsball" because there are actual stakes. The implication of using the term "Sportsball" is that it's just a game where the outcome doesn't affect the real world.

She had the misfortune of living in a red state with draconian state laws the feds can't arbitrarily override. You seem to be playing "both sides are the same" which is just bullshit assholes tell themselves to feel better about being a piece of shit.
