Maybe on GOG one day - where they cannot force you to use their launcher!
There is no Launcher, it requires you to login to PSN and link the PSN Account with your Steam one which is also against GoG's policies as that is a form of DRM. So you can pretty much give up the idea it's ever coming to GoG. Sony wants everyone to use a PSN account, there is no other way for them to one day lock multiplayer behind a PS+ for PC. I am sure it is coming down the line sometime, the first step is to make an innocuous requirement like linking a PSN account with a steam account for every game, then adding a few user requested features like trophy sharing and game save sharing to prove how "beneficial" their new DRM sorry account linking is. I would bet Sony will delist the GoG versions of all their games whenever their contract is up.
Sounds about right. Good analysis.

No one really is really waiting for a PC port anymore, the emulated version is already better than any PC port done by Sony would ever be.

Sorry, my bad. No extra Sony launcher then. But I also don't want a PSN account and won't allow Sony to spy on me (in addition to Steam, that is).
They can delist on GOG whatever they want, they cannot delete the offline installer on my backup drive. This is why GOG rules - buy a game, keep the game. No "license revoked but thx for your money, stupid" on GOG.

Gotta keep face, but can't lose out on the serotonin. Many people complain about 3rd party accounts/launchers, but as soon as a game in their favorite franchise gets released with such a requirement they will, of course, buy it.

I dunno, we all ignore the fact that we chose to make the publisher a third party by making Steam a de-facto mandatory second party if you wanna maximize your profits in the PC market.

Anyways, I also thought the H:ZD remaster arrived too early, but looking at the improvements it ain't just textures and models. The first Last of Us Remaster looked worse between the original and improved than H:ZD does between its versions.

You guys remember how bad we had it with all the "HD" versions of games way back when?

So if you are offline, and you have already connected your PSN account to the game previously, will it run? I figured I would ask before I tried it myself; I don't have any Sony games installed that require it atm.

That's even worse. Isn't this a single-player game? Why do you need an account to play a single player game? Even if I were interested in this, that requirement would be a big nope for me.

I know you're joking but damn it does feel like it, doesn't it? In reality it's a numbers game for them at this point: "Active" account numbers to fool investors with as well as data collecting is the name of the game here. Sony is becoming more like Ubisoft by the day: they are dropping more balls than a one-armed juggler. Luckily they have buckets of cash and a long way to go before becoming Ubisoft part 2...or rather I should say a re-release of Ubisoft since that's what they like to do.

They do it because the people it frustrates costs them 3% of the sales, while the 97% remaining spend a metric crap-ton of money. In other words, they don't really care, unless a specific instance (Helldivers 2) results in a public ding to their reputation.

A handful of people grumbling online isn't going to ding their reputation.

I like the game....but releasing a "remaster" right now that is essentially better textures and a FEW updated models just in time for the Lego game to come on Nov 14th? I am thinking that isn't a coicedence.

That said, the original was a fun game if you are a Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Far Cry type of game fan.

?

They do it to have a juicy "new" SKU for the PS5 Pro. Anything to make the PS5 Pro a worthwhile purchase. God knows this console needs some real killer arguments because you have to cough up $800 for the Pro model. That is why Sony is eager and desperate to pimp many of their back catalogue games for PS5 Pro. Remasters of this kind are relatively cheap and easily done within a very reasonable time frame.

Horizon was one of their most successful former exclusives so it is no surprise why it is getting the Remaster treatment as one of the first Sony titles. The PC port is merely a byproduct to make some extra cash on the side as it is also easily done for el cheapo based on the existing port.

What "launcher"? You just need to connect/link it to a PSN account. That is all.
