Good analysis.El Pit wrote on Nov 1, 2024, 12:51:There is no Launcher, it requires you to login to PSN and link the PSN Account with your Steam one which is also against GoG's policies as that is a form of DRM. So you can pretty much give up the idea it's ever coming to GoG. Sony wants everyone to use a PSN account, there is no other way for them to one day lock multiplayer behind a PS+ for PC. I am sure it is coming down the line sometime, the first step is to make an innocuous requirement like linking a PSN account with a steam account for every game, then adding a few user requested features like trophy sharing and game save sharing to prove how "beneficial" their new
Maybe on GOG one day - where they cannot force you to use their launcher!DRMsorry account linking is. I would bet Sony will delist the GoG versions of all their games whenever their contract is up.

It'd be interesting to see how many people would be willing to suffer a Playstation account requirement if this was the long-overdue Bloodborne PC port instead.
LurkerLito wrote on Nov 1, 2024, 13:32:Sorry, my bad. No extra Sony launcher then. But I also don't want a PSN account and won't allow Sony to spy on me (in addition to Steam, that is).El Pit wrote on Nov 1, 2024, 12:51:There is no Launcher, it requires you to login to PSN and link the PSN Account with your Steam one which is also against GoG's policies as that is a form of DRM. Cutter wrote on Nov 1, 2024, 13:36:That's even worse. Isn't this a single-player game? Why do you need an account to play a single player game? Even if I were interested in this, that requirement would be a big nope for me.LurkerLito wrote on Nov 1, 2024, 13:32:

Same diff.

In reality it's a numbers game for them at this point: "Active" account numbers to fool investors with as well as data collecting is the name of the game here. Sony is becoming more like Ubisoft by the day: they are dropping more balls than a one-armed juggler. Luckily they have buckets of cash and a long way to go before becoming Ubisoft part 2...or rather I should say a re-release of Ubisoft since that's what they like to do.
It feels like spite at this point. They know this frustrates people, but they do it anyway.
