Out of the Blue

Tomorrow is Halloween, so I guess today is All Hallows' Eve Eve. Our preparations were complete so long ago, I'm not sure they're still complete. By that I mean that we've been doing more than a little raiding of the candy supply we picked up weeks back. With the festivities almost upon us, I'm going to have to do an inventory and decide if I need to make a run to the store to replenish the dent we put in our stash. Don't judge us. Yes, we're adults, but c'mon, it's Halloween!

Sweet Round-up
Thanks Ant, Neutronbeam, and Max.

If you guys are ok with a goofy low budget but pretty decent one, Deadstream was ok. Basically, a husband and wife loved Evil Dead 2, but wanted to make it with the premise of "what if Ash was an obnoxious streamer?" It's nowhere near as good, but was actually kind of entertaining. I wanted something lighter and funny for my wife, and it was a good 6.5/10, which is better than most new horror.

This October, we've also watched:
m3gan, which isn't really horror so much as family drama, but that makes it a much smarter movie than it has a right to
Jennifer's Body, which I hated
The Outing, which is such a ridiculously bad 1980s movie, with so many absolutely baffling decisions, but the interviews with the cast and writer are endearing (even if they never touch upon why the rape was needed)
Wednesday, which... was just Nancy Drew with what "normies" think a goth person is, and some terrible acting, but the lead was great. Everything else totally generic and anonymous
Both Addam's Family movies. Raul Julia is a legend. Wish they didn't both revolve around someone trying to scam for Fester's money

I think that's it. I usually try for more actual horror movies, but this wasn't the best October.

That was a great movie. Saw it a couple of years ago. Just didn't like the part where the bad guy shot the dog.

All things Hammer - The Devil Rides Out for sure, even though I just rewatched it a few months ago. Just caught Alien Romulus, and I have to agree it was actually way better than I thought it would be. I have a few 1970 Japanese horror flicks I've PVR'ed from TCM that I intend to watch. Korea is making a lot of great horror films and TV series these days. I've actually become a real fan of the stuff they're churning out. I'll likely give Train to Busan a rewatch. And on Netflix there's an excellent series by the name of Kingdom. Some of the stuff I usually watch this time of year....

Night of the Demon - I can never get enough of this film.
The Omen - 1, 2, & 3.
Prince of Darkness
Pumpkinhead
Sleepy Hollow - Disney and Depp versions.
End of Days
Fallen
The Frightgeners
Land of the Dead
The Ninth Gate
The Crow
The Shining - haven't seen it in a long while now so I'm watching it for sure.
Theater of Blood - Vincent Price's best film.
Thirteen Ghosts
The Witch
World War Z

I dare you to not like it ๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸงŸ๐ŸงŒ๐Ÿ‘บ๐Ÿ‘น

EDIT: I found my list. This year's new entry is "All Hallow's Eve". For those who don't know this is the production that introduced the world to deliciously sinister and vile "Art the Clown" of the "Terrifier" movies. Of course the Michael Myers brilliant first movie "Halloween" is on there. I'm going to be watching 'Halloween Party' for the first time. I hear that it is the right balance of corny, scary, and funny.

I am with you. I will be watching Halloween also and maybe Alien: Romulus or stay 'safe' and stick with classic Alien.

I've heard that people say that it's "not as bad as it's reputation suggests", but no one will admit that it was anything better than awful. It's probably one of the worst big budget movies ever made, which is why it is so well known, but I have seen much worse. It's hard to ever find a theatrical release anymore, but I can tell you that Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty had absolutely no chemistry, the singing bits were so awkward that I cringed (Yes Dustin Hoffman actually tried to sing in it), and it was painfully unfunny. The plot being absolutely ridiculous was only a negative because it wasn't funny in the least. It really has no redeeming qualities. It's not "so bad it's good"; it's just painful to sit through. I don't recommend anyone watch it unless you are a historian.

True, but even I have movies that I have relegated to only watching once a year on Halloween.

Ishtar?

Some movies are too scary for anyone to watch without fear of physical harm...

Missing my two favorite jump scares.
1) The reveal of the phantom's face in the original Phantom of the Opera
2) The car scene from Haunting of Hill House. The show spent 8 episodes without any, so this one really comes out of nowhere.
