Still rockin' my "out of support" Samsung S8, with another sitting in a drawer waiting for when I need it. Bought both of them for around $125. And no ads, since weirdo that I am, I mostly use it as a phone.

I was happily rocking a S9 until I discovered there's a critical Bluetooth exploit in the older OS that Google cannot or will not push out a fix for. Moved to S24 this year as a result.
Yeah, well seeing as I literally never have Bluetooth turned on... I don't think I'll worry about that.

What comes after a new AI tech gets accepted and absorbed into our lives, why the the real deal, the enshittification stage. Your tech gadgets get AI embedded chips mainly to better surveil you you, force feed you a political framing of reality, adds, and product placement, with ever increasing GACHA structured rent schemes.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride! - HT

Dunno, I know I’m fine with my iPhone. No reason to grab the pitch forks and torches to it yet.

I think that it’s just the problem stems from market saturation. Only a rich chud updates their iPhone every new iteration. And Ai or not if my phone is working now I really do not care to pay for a new one unless it’s an emergency.

As an Android used who recently switched to Apple, I just want to go back to Android ASAP.

I was an Android user, my first smartphone was an S3, then I updated to a S7. I changed to iphone reluctantly at 14 and thats what I have currently. I made the switch for work, as they use software that only comes out for iOS currently. I have had a great experience with my iphone, but it bothers me that I can only get apps Apple says are okay. Now that I am no longer in the previous job, I am probably going to switch back to something Android. For some people I am sure Apple's walled garden is exactly what they want, but paying for a product that then presents me with one store and one price option for everything I would then add as software just makes my brain itch in a way that I can't get around. It seems anti-consumer at the most basic level, and giving money to a company that is anti-consumer at it's most basic functioning level makes my brain itch even more. So yeah, great device, very tough, works like advertised and no problems with software. I had all that with my Samsungs though, plus an actual memory card slot, and I could shop where I wanted to.

Interesting. I would have assumed the majority of iphone owners to be exactly the kind of consumers that would update specifically for that. That said, the name "Apple Intelligence" was actually kinda Apple Stupid. I think it makes people uneasy the way it's advertised. Apple has been incredibly vague about how it works, choosing to just show you the button glowing and the screen changing color when you push a button in the ads. No actual functional purpose demonstrated, so nothing that makes me look down at my iphone and go "damn bitch, you old". Perhaps the customers do not want to be first adopters considering how much shit we all keep on our phones these days and the now inherent distrust of not just AI, but the people and companies creating AI. That would be an interesting corner for Apple to be banking considering the relatively smooth ride they have been enjoying with their base for quite some time now.

Is the Apple Intelligence even out yet? Hard to sell something on a feature that isn’t widely available
