The difference: This time the average Joe caught on after a few weeks. The negative press was significant. In the past, 95% of all gamers didn't pay any attention to the 5% who pointed out the issues.

And from what I've seen, Bethesda doesn't need to learn from it's mistakes. Microsoft was watching, and they were decidedly unhappy. The best chance for improved games in the future isn't Bethesda learning, it's Microsoft giving Bethesda a spanking and sending them to bed without desert.

Wow. Clickbait bullshit from this guy's chat with Videogamer has made it into the headlines for the third time with this Starfield 2 blahblah (first one here and second one here). Videogamer and other outlets are really milking it for all it's worth.

The really comical part is that this dude who is making all sorts of claims about Starfield 2 and Elder Scrolls VI hasn't even worked at Bethesda since 2021. He left the company three years ago. LOLZ.

too bad they learned Ubisoft's mistakes...
I bought the Crew (1) and the Division (1) which were soon put out to pasture to make way for Crew 2 and The Division 2. Left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't recall buying any other Ubi games since.
So yeah this franchise is dead

I also think Star Citizen 2 will be "one hell of a game" too.

Emphasis on "hell", de-emphasis on "game".

From Bethesda, that's pretty much par for the course.

Without modders fixing their games, they'd be in so much shit...

Bethesda under Dudd Howard is creatively bankrupt; I can't imagine ES6 being anything else than the exact same rote thing with new assets unless they boot him and bring back Julian LeFay or something. And it'll still sell 10 million copies in just preorders so whatever.

The proof is in the pudding.

And the pudding just clipped through the wall and disappeared.

So somewhere is a video of a meeting in Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077. Go in sit down talk (shit happens). The difference is night and day. If ya go back even to Morrowind, there are no set pieces, there are no major moments of any npc doing anything spectacular (maybe the start of Skyrim...). They have decent stories, and decent universes, but they are boring as fuck because having 1000 npc's just walk around doesn't mean anything if they are lifeless walking dead (inclulding Story mission npc's).

Imagine even wanting to make a sequel to the load screen simulator. Bethesda should focus on The Elder Scrolls VI. If they lean heavily on to NPC and AI interactivity and world design it would be as big as Skyrim all over again.

Oh so they’re finally going to stop bolting stuff onto their decades old gamebryo/creation engine and start from scratch? I’m sick of playing the same game with different skins
