Factorio Space Age Launches

Wube Software announces the launch of the Space Age DLC for Factorio, allowing you to see if your factories have the right stuff to boldly go into the final frontier. It's available for Windows, macOS, and Linux on GOG.com,* the Humble Store,* and Steam, and word is "Purchases from our website or GOG can redeem a free expansion Steam key. If you purchase on Steam, you can link your Steam ID to our website to access the non-Steam downloads." There's also a new patch to update the (required) base game to version 2.0.7. and here are the patch notes for that. A newish trailer shows how this expands your reach, and here's word:
Factorio: Space Age continues the player's journey after launching rockets into space. Discover new worlds with unique challenges, exploit their novel resources for advanced technological gains, and manage your fleet of interplanetary space platforms.

The backbone of planetary logistics and the first foray into space. Space platforms are flying factories that act as the means of transportation between planets.

Not only is Factorio a fantastic game for those who are into "production builders" (I don't know what else to call these specific type of building games), but the developer has proven to be very pro-consumer. I want to support them, but I worry that at some point this game will become too much for me to process in my diminished mental state.
I played a few hours of it and thought the same. Looking at screenshots of people's production chains just gives me a headache. And I started getting to a point that I needed to reroute conveyors just to put new ones in. Although, the time I was playing was a lot of fun

refactoring your spagheti is the fun!

Don't freak out about streamers/youtubers. They go far beyond what is necessary to finish/complete/experience the game. You don't need that much throughput to see it all or have fun, save that for if you get hooked and want to speedrun it or whatever. My first rocket was created from an absolute nightmare mess. Now I plan a 16 lane bus about 20 minutes in, but there are lots of valid aproaches.

I can imagine it's a nightmare for perfectionists though. I'm trying to take the lessons I learned in Shapez 2 and blueprint modular mini factories so as to expand later but I know it will just be spagheti. Maybe in my heart thats what I really want.

Yeah! First decent local release timing in a long time! I was on by 19:10pm!

So far so Factorio, but I havn't played in a long time so I'm making horrific mistakes already.

If you are new, expect to see your base get eaten. Don't sweat it. Rollback if you think you can fix or start again with lessons learned.

I'm more excited about new train functionality than space or anything. Always so fun setting the signalling up for bi-directional tracks!

Tried to get into Factorio a few years ago, but I felt a little lost. I should revisit it.

I dunno how many hours I'm into Satisfactory 1.0 but having a good time. I kind of burned myself out the night of the hurricane, playing for almost 12 straight hours to stay awake, and distract me from the noise of the storm.

So far only up to fuel generators, but I've been taking it slow. I have double the power that I need so no urgency.

I've been concentrating more on exploration this time, and setting up radar towers which I never used before. Planning out future factories.

I never used trains or trucks much before, usually running thousands of miles of belts all over the planet, so I'm experimenting with those.

I'll buy this to support the devs. Not sure when I'll get to it. I have several thousand hours in Factorio but frankly, what I have seen of Space Age hasn't really grabbed me.

As for Satisfactory, I'm having problems motivating myself past the automating Rotors, Reinforced Iron Plate, and Modular Frames stage. My previous Satisfactory setup had a very well organized truck and train deliveries and I'm having difficultly getting the motivation to rebuild all that stuff again for some reason.

I did finally get around to playing a Dark Fog run in Dyson Sphere Program. The problem there is now that I have kicked them out of several systems I don't know what's next. Do I have to kill all 64 space hives? I probably could...

I finished Satisfactory on a server that hit about 120 hours. We had three of us, logging in here and there to get things going. I had nothing to do with our Nuclear plants; I set up rocket fuel power generators and ammunition facilities. I set up the entire frames-to-pasta system, while they set up other long-chain production.

You really don't need nuclear, btw. Rocket Fuel lets you feed an insane number of generators (119.8, for some weird reason) off of a single Pure oil node, and there are like 3 locations with 3+ Pure nodes. There's a fuel type that pushes it even further, Ionized fuel, but I never got around to making that one because the process didn't appear to be worth the gains.
120 hours with 3 people should be fine. I am 200 hours in solo.

Also, I love my nuclear power plants. Once I got them up and running and the nuclear waste problem is solved, I never have to think about energy again, especially with the added Alien Power Augmenters. Now I can take my time to just build the production lanes for the tier 9 stuff which should be no problem since I already got a lot of pure nodes up and running.

After that, I will take some time off Satisfactory and try crack instead. Just kidding. I will try the Satisfactory Plus mod for version 1.0 next year.

You could double that (240 generators) by making rocket fuel from turbo blend fuel instead of turbo fuel. You can retofit existing plants by getting rid of a couple of rows of generators and using 3x powershards in the rest.

You finished Satisfactory? Amazed Wow! I am about 200 hrs into the 1.0 playthrough and have just set up my 12 nuclear power plants. How many hrs did you need to finish the story?

Wow, I have 259 hours into it. I have not done everything. No trains or trucks. No fancy factories. I built nuclear fuel rods for the research but did not bother with power plants. I found rocket fuel power plant to be sufficient, except at the end, when my final quantum converter caused a shut down. I just turned off prior machines since they had crafted enough, and problem solved. Such a great game. I want to replay it but I know I will just do the same things, so maybe pointless until they release some updates Oh, and hypertube cannon is awesome. I did not make any of these until late game. I would start with these early in my next playthrough.

Edit: In thinking about it, the numbers are going to be off. They include other playthroughs, 15 hrs or so, leaving the game on a few nights to build materials. I also used a lot of guides, which probably sped things up a lot. And most of my end game crafting was from storage to storage, only things automated was if I had to resupply too many times I would run a belt.
