It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of ALIEN: ISOLATION"'.
When we started developing ALIEN: ISOLATION, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the ALIEN TM franchise - a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.
It's been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world. Your boundless enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!) and steely courage in the face of cinema's greatest killer, have been profoundly rewarding.
Whether you're a nightmare mode veteran or stepping into Amanda Ripley's shoes for that thrilling first attempt (good luck!), we wanted to express our deep gratitude. It was a dream project brought to life by a brilliant team, and the reception you have given it over the years is extraordinary.
On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.
Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: ISOLATION is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready.
Once again, thank you.
Until next time,
Al Hope, Creative Director - ALIEN: ISOLATION

I finally got around to playing Alien: Isolation, years after getting it on sale somewhere, and was... underwhelmed. Nigh unkillable alien(mostly?) hiding in lockers, etc. I think I just don't like these run and hide games, they feel ridiculous to me, and kinda boring. If we're going to play hide and seek, give me better movement, for fuck's sake.
I thought SOMA was brilliant, but not really scary in actual gameplay? Same for a lot of these games for me though.

Cutter wrote on Oct 7, 2024, 18:28:I finished SOMA. The scary enemies could occasionally be pretty scary, but not as scary as the Alien, and anyways eventually they too just become something you learn to avoid. There's a game option to disable the monsters, so you could continue your save without them. The scariest moment I recall from SOMA was having to make a run for an elevator and then manually punch in the code to get the elevator to move, all while the monster was getting closer and closer.
Visually and thematically it was perfect. Gameplay-wise, not so much. I still say Outlast is the scariest horror game made. I only made it about halfway through that game before I had to give it up or risk a heart attack. It literally had me jumping out of my chair at points. I went through SOMA a ways but parked it and never went back. Anyone ever finish that one?

I never played Alien Isolation. Sounds like I have to pick this up.

Not too long ago there was an article explaining why A:I should be a one-off, with no sequelitis plaguing it. Well here we are, a sequel has to come because this is the only really good Alien franchise game in the last decade or two.
Bill Borre wrote on Oct 7, 2024, 12:56:They made that game already.
So Alien was a horror movie set in space and Aliens made it into an action flick. Alien Isolation was survival horror so the sequel is...FPS?

An "Alien" sequel that I am actually happy to hear about. Didn't think that would ever happen again...
