Out of the Blue

Still letting the dust settle after yesterday's announcement. In a related development, we see a little advertising progress here, as I placed one of those nifty skyscraper ads (as if you hadn't noticed), it seems to fit the page format well enough, and I trust you will enjoy all the life-changing products it will offer over the time. In a further related note, there is a continued cry to create some function to allow concerned parties to make donations to the site, and while I have mixed feelings about such a measure (to say the least), it is starting to get hard to ignore those that are starting to get downright irate that we aren't doing this, so this is at least getting some serious consideration.

Play Time: 3D first-person Pong on LiquidMedia (Shockwave required). Thanks Jamie Wood. This is completely awesome.
Link of the Day: Makegames.com Royalty Calculator. Thanks Frostnick. Want to make a game? Want to make money? Apparently the two don't always go together.
Bonus Link: Monkeyphonecall.com. Thanks Noah. This is the type of thing that could spur another Internet boom.
Weird Science: US firm offers stars DNA copyright (BBC). Thanks Chris.
Wild Science: More Moons Around Earth? (Space.Com). Thanks zombie69.
Media of the Day: On a note related to the above, SwRI, UCSC researchers identify the Moon-forming impact. Thanks EvilToast and [MP] Wolverine [MP]. Demonstrates how the moon was formed with an animation, in case you were curious, or were planning on making your own moon someday.

Frostnick, you will survive. Most of us do.

Damnit.
I have no time to play pong since I have to move and my girlfriend since two years back reported after heavy interogation that she has cheated on me during a trip to visit som friends the other day! The direct cause of that is alot of holes in the walls inflicted from my fists of fury(my plan is to move before anyone notice them) and an almost broken finger(the small one on the end of my right hand). After alot of non-packing for my moving I talked on the phone for 6 hours with her. The result of that is that I decided to never see her again, or atleast until I can cope with that shit.
Now my plan is to try to NOT kill myself and I cannot play Pong due to my broken finger.
Help!

Does Loony know something we should ? Between the Die Hard and the Skyscraper, it is hard to get used to the New Blue "Skyscraper Die Hard" Tower ! I have offered to contribute in the past and will offer again. If Steve Gibson can keep his site going, and hire Loony no less, off contributions, then I think you should give it some great thought Blue. I like my homepage but don't want to be shocked daily at the renovations. I just want all the news that's fit to post, not all the ads that are paying to post. Redwood, et. al. Billy, et.al. and The Shack are all putting up a good bit of competition minus the ads... Even Gamespot has its moments sans obnoxious ads. Welcome to the NWO. Eat or be Eaten...

I didn't even notice the ads until people started complaining about them.
It's not like they cause anyone any great inconvenience. If you don't like them - don't look at them. The Die Hard thing was annoying but it's gone so get over it.
I've been coming to Bluesnews 4 ages and I'm not leaving.
Anyone who truly appreciated the site wouldn't either.

This is the first time I've posted coz I never had much to say before but all these "I'm leaving coz there's a little pile of bricks next to the text" assholes piss me off.

Plus I'm at work and I'm bored

Re: Donations Aug 16, 2001, 20:08

Just a quick thought: If you feel uncomfortable with accepting donations (understandable), then sell advertising space to would-be doners? The doner could advertise anything they may be involved with in gaming like their clan, mod, server, etc. or in true donating style advertise Blue's News itself (in essence, giving the space back). Think of it as the amature scene of advertising.

This man (whoever he may be,) has an EXCELLENT idea!

I have to make a small amendment to my earlier post (from a different machine, hence anon) That animated brick-laying stuff is distracting me from comfy reading the news so it is not that perfect. Still better than those nasty poop-ins or whatever they are called and you prob have no control over the designquality of the adds anyway.

Sorry to see the looner go. No more fruit for us Bluesers.

A beginning is a very delicate time.
Know then that it is the year 10191.
The known universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, my father.
In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the PONG.
The PONG extends life, the PONG expands consciousness, the PONG is vital to space travel.
The Ponging Guild and its navigators, who the PONG has mutated over four thousand years, use the orange PONG game which gives them the ability to fold space.
That is travel to any part of the universe without moving.
Oh yes... I forgot to tell you... the PONG exists on only one planet in the entire universe: a desolate, dry planet with vast deserts.
Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the PONGERS who have long held a prophecy, that a man would come, a messiah, who would lead them to true PONGING GREATNESS.
The planet is Arrakis, also known as... PONGLAND!.

The HORROR! THE HORROR!
"Horror and moral terror are your friends! If they are not then they are enemies to be feared." Col. Kurtz

"Hey, man, you don't talk to the Colonel. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet-warrior in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll, uh, well, you'll say hello to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you, and he won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say do you know that if is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you -- I mean I'm no, I can't -- I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's, he's a great man."
