Lords of the Fallen 2 in Production

Lords of the Fallen 2 is now in full development, reveals the latest CI Games Product Roadmap, where there's also first word on a couple of other projects (thanks Eurogamer.net). Word is this will be an Epic exclusive promising: "Gameplay improvements; increased game mode optionality, more commercial art style and narrative, elevated production values." The other preproduction games are the next Sniper Ghost Warrior game codenamed Project SGW Evolved (2027) and another codenamed Project H (2028). Here's more on each of those:
Project SGW Evolved

  • Next major iteration in SGW franchise, built on UE5
  • Strong appeal to both core and wider audiences through combination of signature FPS gameplay elevated by survival genre elements
  • Development expedited by repurposing extensive components from Project Survive and SGW Next, including ideation, research, assets, and systems

Project H

  • New major action-RPG IP within highly commercial fantasy genre
  • Built on UE5 using systems and architecture from Lords of the Fallen and Project III
  • Efficient pre-production with lean team, until late 2025
  • Hexworks team begin off-ramp from Project III as Project H begins production ramp, maximising cross-studio talent allocation

Oh the suffering !, you entitled myopic "only my preferences and convenience matter" gamers (not all, and love you anyway).
You either commit to supporting third-party PC exclusives, or you don't, and then you find that the games you want to buy aren't available on your preferred platform. I'll always support a free and open marketplace where publishers can choose where to sell their games without being influenced by financial incentives to avoid other stores, which is anti-consumer.

I suspect some of you don't care, but you might miss the bigger picture of what happens when third-party exclusives become the norm for PC games. I'm fiercely against that. Thankfully, Valve and GOG don't pay third-party publishers to go exclusive on their platforms—they're open and available to every publisher. Since Steam and GOG represent a significant portion of the PC gaming market, hopefully, they can prevent Epic from making third-party exclusives a thing. But honestly, I hope Epic fails in every attempt to push Fortnite further. Without the income from that game, their ability to fund exclusives will dry up.
