More to the point, do Assassins Creed games sell well in Asia? Even if they did, there is no outcry from what I have seen other than from people to whom using "woke" in half of what they write somehow doesn't seem ridiculous. Usually in BOLD AND ALL CAPS! in their headlines.

I follow the games industry pretty closely and the only Asian group that I have heard speak out was a group of Japanese battle reenactors whose flag was apparently copied by Ubisoft without permission.

Can anyone link us to widespread flak from "the Japanese?"

I bailed on the Assreed franchise at Origins and the Far Cry franchise at 6, which I never finished due to how insipidly dull it was.

But, for me, Ubisoft went on to the permanent no-buy list when they utterly mangled Silent Hunter 5 and then just outright killed the series forever.

The game definitely has issue, but not technical, its a all about how not authentic it is or accurate to the historical facts that its set in. On top of that, they are now getting called out for the Collectors edition statue of a half Tori. a Tori that is in Nagasaki that was left half standing from the atomic blast and now represent the war and a grim reminder of it and Atomic weaponry.

A lot of the hate Ubisoft gets is not necessarily game-related. It's clear that Yves Guillemot is a clueless, lying, abusive piece of shit. I would presume that because hardly anyone from their board or management were jailed or fired for enabling abuse or even being abusers themselves, he is far from the only one. I'll continue to say, however, that Ubisoft has outstanding programmers and artists. Their games always feel only a step or two away from greatness. Their cut-and-paste open worlds and Mad Libs mission design are virtually always the top complaints. I would have to believe that it continues to be a thing game after game because of corporate mandate and not because the designers are just clueless or lazy. With their recent losses in revenue and stock price, they won't fix any of this; they'll just end up blaming and laying off the people who have nothing to do with their own stupid decisions. Capitalistic abuse isn't only America's problem.

If Jedi Outlaws is anything to go by, they cancelled those probably because the game is so bad not even the shill sites would be able print their "previews" with a straight face.

In the last decade, Ubisoft has shown nothing but arrogance, laziness, slop, and total disregard for its customer base. They can't fail soon enough. I've gotten very comfortable not owning their games.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll get right on that, cancelling the next entry in a multi-platform mega-franchise that sells more copies annually than the thematically-similar fledgling IP has sold in its lifetime...

Well, the next Ghost of Tsushima game (Ghost of Yotei) was announced today for 2025, so.. RIP to AssCreed: Red Flag.
