I love how reading a bit between the lines you can be fairly certain that the "20+ years outdated infrastructure and language" at Sonos probably just means something entirely normal, they just wanted to re-do it all again and save personel costs, hence redoing it all with frontend-only technology and node.js and shit. Since frontend devs cost so much less than backend ones.
